That's just because there are so many dealerships and you never get to hear the good stories because they just don't get posted.

lol might as well ask them to drop in the secret TRD supercharger while they're at it.

FiRStsc10n 11-27-2014 10:26 PM

Whatever you decide, just remember that all the RS1.0 had bumper swaps at port. They left Japan with the standard FR-S bumper in yellow, all of which were likely destroyed once at port due to laws/regulations. I understand your frustration with the lies, and the fact that someone bumped the car while in transit. But is there really a difference between having bumper #3 or bumper #2? I would try and get the TRD wheels instead of the gas card (since gas is becoming cheap) and call it a day.

It also very unlikely that the original bumpers, or the RS1.0 bumpers were painted alongside the car. From my experience bumpers are from suppliers. So the paint may never be 100% match however these at least all painted by the suppliers and not your local shop.

chaoskaze 11-28-2014 03:16 AM

^wut this guy said. Know that All the RS 1.0 left factory like standard 86 but in yellow. Everything else is installed at port at Cali.

Friend of mine got reamed for winning a bunch of high-dollar Exxon gas cards and not reporting it on her taxes.

I'm another for saying ask for the TRD wheels. They are ~250 each so its not that different than the gas card but IMO much worth it. The car just looks wrong with the stock wheels.

OP didn't win anything. This card would be part of his purchase, not income.

In talks to get TRD wheels but honestly after the warranty is up in this car I'm swapping out a bunch of stuff for carbon fiber later. I intend on keeping the car

Hoping for good things for you but would really be surprised if they do the wheels since they would need to provide different tires too.

JiroZero713 11-29-2014 12:56 PM

No go on the tires. Just taking the gas card. They are swapping a bumper now and they gave me an eta of less than two weeks due to stupid Hawaiian stuff. It'll prob be ready next week.

jamies31 11-29-2014 01:15 PM

Ouch that really is a shame, I hope everything works out for you.
Really is just bad luck, Damage could happen any day when it comes to transport. I manage a scion department and that would be my worst nightmare on a release series. It can be easily fixed, Would have been nice if the dealer was honest with you from the start and they probably wouldn't need to compensate you with anything

FyeaFRS 11-29-2014 01:35 PM

that's what you get for wanting a rs

Er what the fuck does that mean. Be less of a tool please.

slicktop 11-29-2014 04:30 PM

You haven't signed any paperwork, why would the dealership go through all this trouble when they can swap the bumper out and just sell it with a new bumper? Take what you can get and stop pinching pennies.

Kiske 11-29-2014 08:14 PM

You guys realise there are even accidents and repaints at the factories correct? Being right down the road from FORD's truck plant we get hammered with a lot of corrections when they have problems or things happen after they leave the loading lot. These things are never reported even to the dealer.

JiroZero713 glad to hear you're reaching closure on the problems. Hopefully this is the only issue you will ever have out of a long and satisfying ownership. Best Wishes!

JiroZero713 12-01-2014 05:27 PM

Update: Was told they are just waiting on the claim to come through. Then I'll get my RS. Hopefully it's this week and not next.

themadscientist 12-01-2014 05:31 PM

What the dealer did was shady. I wouldn't have rewarded them for their behavior. They should have immediately notified you of what happened and given you options. It's not what happened that is at issue here, it's how they handled it.

Possible future customers would appreciate whatever warning you can provide them so they can avoid this shady outfit. I see a lot of threads like this. Are all dealers scumbags?

Turbo95eg6 12-01-2014 06:02 PM

I'd steer clear from swapping bumpers or repaint. The chance of the two brand new bumpers matching is minuscule, prepared to see different shades in different lighting conditions.

Waiting for what "claim"?

FRSupra 12-01-2014 07:55 PM

Since we are on the subject I would like to add this...

I know of a 10 series manual that is still on the lot that has been jumped backwards, has had fuses blown and a chemical spilt on the paint during post PDI cleanup. It was sent to a body shop and repainted. The first owner will have no idea..

I've wanted to post this for some time.

I've also seen this same dealership crack a block during a transmission job and replaced it without the customer knowing anything.

They are making a claim on the vehicle for damage in transit

And that stops them from swapping the bumper and getting the car to you now?
Something still very fishy here. I bet next you will be back saying they are ordering a new bumper and it will take 8 weeks more.
Shit at this rate you will be able to get a 2016 before the RS is done.

JiroZero713 12-01-2014 11:31 PM

Claim went through my car is being built now with my cold air intake. I'll be picking her up in less than a week but is the paint and door ding warranty really worth it? I'd hate to spend 1400 bucks on something that is useless. After everything that has happened the assholes are still trying to sell me shit.

I'm a sales consultant. I never push paint protection, ever, and will only include it if my customer is the one that wants and asks for it.

The door ding warranty is awesome. That I definitely suggest (although I always forget to bring it up to my customers :bellyroll:). I got the tire/wheel/windshield/ding package for 5 years on my car. I've already used it to remove three door dings I got from some careless coworker (never found out who dinged my door).

JiroZero713 12-02-2014 01:35 AM

749 bucks for ding protection sounds to steep.

wtf, that's just for "ding shield?"

The tire/wheel/windshield/ding package I got was half of that! Your local dealership must extremely mark up their packages. That's insane!

Kaotic Lazagna 12-02-2014 02:30 AM

My package lets me replace my original tires instead of repairing them, fixes light curb rash, replaces windshields, and paintless dent repairs for five years (no deductible from me). Just getting rid of those three dings I got already covered at least half of the package price. I'll most likely claim the windshield within the five years as I've heard the twin's windshield is prone to cracks/chips.

quality_sound 12-02-2014 03:23 AM

Most states allow a dealer to not disclose damage up to, I want to say, 20% of the value of the car without telling the buyer. I'd asked for a discount on the car before I accepted the gift card.

JiroZero713 12-05-2014 12:46 AM

Recon in hawaii done. Vehicle is having cold air intake put on. Will recieve on Sat sun maybe latest Monday

sdwagonjp 12-05-2014 01:43 AM

You live in Hawaii...How much gas do you need to get around. Fix the bumper.

So Gents I am in a dilema.

I have found out that the Scion Dealership had been lying to be for 2 months about my car.

My car was damaged in transit and they neglected to tell me this and just held unto my car until a replacement RS 1.0 Bumper came in.

What they didn't realize was the back order for those parts already and when it never came they had to eventually tell me of their lie and they offered me 1000 dollars Gas Card and still full price of the Vehicle.

Now initially I thought I was going to accept this but....this means that this policy is in use by this dealership and they have lied to several customers before.

I think I should be getting News Teams involved here now and potentially hire my own lawyer. I shouldn't have to pay full price for a damaged vehicle no matter that they are replacing the parts completely. It's still an insurance claim on a previously New vehicle.

So legal advice here guys...should I pull my money from them and just buy that Limited BRZ?

Or should I just take the 1000 dollar gas card,

Or should I go to News Teams and hire myself a lawyer and potentially sue them. They did lie to me and I even got the pictures from the Manager of the store who said he didn't know about it til a week ago and that his hire-ups were telling him not to tell me.

Thoughts?

Pics following

Most real attorneys charge anywhere from $200/hr to $500/hr or more. You may want to avoid the layer idea all together. I suggest getting the new bumper on and negotiating for $2,000 gas card or $1500 under msrp/asking price. Either way you can't lose :) and i'd rather have the gas card. That is like 42 tanks of gas - potentially the first 10,000 miles driven not out of pocket (assuming you avg 250 miles a tank (which you won't lol) give or take).

As a car salesman that sells a similiar package i'd recommed it also. I didn't buy it for my FR-S and regretted it this past January since I had one thing happen after another. Had a super long nail in my tire and dings out of this world thanks to careless drivers, spent almost 1,200 in repairs.

JiroZero713 12-06-2014 07:52 PM

Picking up the car tomorrow.
