Let me correct that he "got" me a coffee. He is a cop and I didn't see any money change hands.

Beware WallyPark Valet

18 months of ownership - park just about anywhere in pubic lots and no issues... but I do choose carefully. The only bad ding was while WallyPark Valet Garage at SeaTac Airport. Filed a claim but they denied it on the basis that none of their employees reported the incident - ya think!!??

Anyway had to go thru insurance - was handled as a pseudo hit and run since I had yards of claim documentation. $1000 later... good as new.

WallyPark Premier... Don't trust your car with them!

You know why I parked out here, why do you insist on being an asshole

I've on a few occasions have had someone do that to me while I was still in the car. I then moved up a spot, when I get out they look at me like im some kind of asshole.

Sorry you parked kinda close.. dont trust you after you intentionally did so.

Seeing a lot of posts like this and pictures depicting this made me think of something... I'm that guy who parks right next to you when every other spot is open, and I'm doing you a favor.

Think of my beat up Honda as a shield, protecting you from the unknown variable who COULD park next to you instead of me. When I park next to you I GUARANTEE you're not getting any door dings, catch my drift?

If I parked my FR-S next to you there'd be no doubt, right? You'd be like "awwwwww yeh, 86 bros watchen each others backs, yo" and we'd nod at each other knowingly, secure in the knowledge that we parked next to each other so no dumb soccer mom could park there and let her rampaging spawn fling the doors open with a level of gusto only a 7-year-old is capable of.

"so no dumb soccer mom could park there and let her rampaging spawn fling the doors open with a level of gusto only a 7-year-old is capable of." LOL that just made my day... im literally loling with tears

Golferguy667 08-15-2014 01:53 PM

My general rule of thumb is to park next to cars that have owners who seem to care. When I'm parking at college parking lot, I try to only park next to modified vehicles.. No1 is gonna let there baby get damaged by dinging me. Lol. That's my flawed logic anyways. ;)

ftc~brz 08-15-2014 02:35 PM

I don't feel this is 86 specific but rather sports car specific. Any car that looks fast, sleek, or new with 2 doors brings every asshat out from around us.

I once had a cop not let me merge onto a highway from a ramp. I was forced to speed up and cut him off or break check the persons behind me. I went with speed up (he had 3 open lanes to the left, but staid in right lane).
I ended up with a warning for speeding as I kept going faster when he was then tailgating me from lane to lane. But I sure did tell him why he was a ****.

Frozen_skidmark 08-15-2014 03:19 PM

This is why dash cams are important to have. And anytime you deal with a cop, record it, they're recording you. I've actually stopped right in front people (tailgaters), gotten out and went back and asked them what their problem was. One guy didn't stop, so I went back again, he was laughing right up until I ripped his mirror off and handed it to him. But I'm a mean tempered welder, I wouldn't recommend anyone else do that. :)

YES.

VeezyF 08-16-2014 07:29 PM

people including cops will tailgate because our cars look fast and are sports cars. the first 'sports' looking car i bought was a tiburon back in 2007 -- i never had anyone tailgate me or cut me off etc until i got that car. it's like a magnet for assholes. lol

sirisvirus 08-16-2014 09:26 PM

I personally think people hate others who have nice things and naturally want to mess it up so they feel better about their pos.

FiReStorm2013 08-17-2014 04:04 PM

For those of you who have come out to the parking lot to find an @$$hat has parked closely to you, do you leave them a note or just drive off.

No note. That just reinforces the fact that they managed to piss you off (if that was what they were going for).
I really think most are not doing it on purpose and they are just too dumb to realize they did anything "wrong". From their point of view they were just parking and that is where their car ended up.
Watched a person pull into a pull through spot at work the other day. When they first stopped (from pulling straight in) the car was at about a 30 degree angle in the spot. They realized how bad it was and took 4 attempts to get it straight. Took 5 minutes to park in a spot most people could have drove straight into in the first place!

3) Cyclist who swerved into the car lane to avoid another cyclist in the bike lane (one of these idiots was going the wrong way in a one-way bike lane)

I've managed to daily-drive this car into the city for over a year without any dings/dents, but it feels like it's just a matter of time. Doesn't help that our cars are small and low. I'm glad for the Perrin exhaust, which helps make it a bit more conspicuous.

You may want to look into having a bull bar made for your FRS.

FiReStorm2013 08-17-2014 06:36 PM

I see what your saying. I've driven with my mom before and she tailgates everyone. I'm like, "why do you tailgate everyone?" She didn't think she was tailgating. My sister doesn't believe she drives fast in parking lots, yet our family all agrees she does.

Warning for all drivers: hospitals are the worst place to park. My dad got a ding in his new car the other day after parking far away. We think it was some old person....that reminds me of this Seinfeld clip on "old people." hahaha

I've watched a little old lady start to pull into her parking spot, slump over the steering wheel, roll backwards and impact the parked car behind her, then wake up, pull into the spot, and walk inside. She didn't even realize what had just happened.

This. Especially if you look young, driving anything resembling a "sports car" gets the haters crawling out of the woodwork like you have never seen before. (And if you think it is bad with the FRS you should have seen what it was like when I owned my FD...) You can be following every traffic law and people still flip their shit.

On the other hand, every time I am on a trip and rent something boring like a Yaris or whatever, I can drive a complete lunatic nonstop and nobody ever even bats an eye.

Teseo 08-17-2014 09:55 PM

Thats why i park in the handicap spot, you must try to get one. Ask youre doctor.

Can't tell you how many dings and scrapes I've gotten after a year and a half and it still manages makes me smile, and I'm smiling most when I can't be bothered to check out the paint.

Classic

I can't really gauge your position on my post...

I'm just parking my car where nobody will bother it... :iono:

Shagaliscious 08-18-2014 07:19 AM

I had some douche bag is a big Chevy pickup run me off the road onto the shoulder, that's about it. He was getting on the highway, and went from the on-ramp all the way to the passing lane (where I was) and ran me off the road. The funny part was when he gave me the finger when I eventually passed him.

Whoops! My apologies!

Classic stunt carefully parking a beater next to the pretty car.
Love it.

I don't much care for miserable asshats.

No dings before I started school. I picked up 4 noticable dings in my one year Masters Program... It really depends where you park. Moms (or kids), new drivers/students, or compact spaces such as at universities will get you. Sometimes you just can't avoid it =(.

As for racing I feel like less people do it now than in the old fast and furious 1 days

CO777DAL 08-19-2014 01:50 AM

I find Walmart parking lots to be the worst with people just not caring. I saw a woman knock over the handicap sign in front of me, she parked and when in the store like nothing happened. At my local Walmart I park on the second level because almost no one parks there. It is also covered so that is a bonus. Walmart is up on the third level and it is a zoo up there. Someone already put a dent in my door within the first month by opening their door into mine :mad0259:

Idk but my 3 day old car was scratched today on the passenger side by the door handle. About a inch, only noticeable in an angle. Been in the garage past 2-3 days and 3 hours at the tint shop.

:(

LOL, happens to me everyday. And it's always a shitty car!

Funny story, I was at a membership wharehouse last year and parked about 50 spots away from the last car. I mean you could barely see it. Some jackass pulled his 2013 new SS Camaro right up behind me while I was inside. Then I came out with my shopping cart full of water, dog food, etc. he was parked so close that I couldn't even pull my cart up to the tailgate. So what did I do? I proceeded to load my stuff on his brand new hood while I sorted everything out to put in. In fact when I closed my rear tailgate it actually scraped his hood a little.
