Thanks for the good info bro.

Yes ive had a look at them. There was a nice white one on autotrader which i was eyeing out curiously but when i had a look at it there were fine scratches on the hood and along the passenger door. :paddle:

Im starting to wonder if i should just wait a while longer to get a bigger budget to work with. As i said, i do not want to end up with something thats going to give me issues. I can get a new high spec for 320k so just wondering if i should wait until the end of the year to just get that... But it seems so far away, the wait could be excruciating :bonk:

Saving abit more, and getting a High Spec is worth the wait:party0030:
Im assuming you are financing, if so, you would pay approx R5 to R6k pm with insurance, so saving for 6months (R5k x 6months = R30k) would bring your budget from R260k to R290k, which is in the price range for a good quality High Spec 86.

With temps dipping to almost zero (and soon below freezing), the heated seats on the high spec are the best thing since sliced bread

High spec FTW!!!
I got a BRZ which comes standard as High spec and im loving it.

I'm coming from a Accord Exec which was full house so I couldn't have gone to standard spec.

Best feature for me is cruise control and to a less extent the heated seats.
Cruise control is just lovely when you are not on the track and lets be honest with each other, even if you track every weekend and the car is your daily driver you are spending only 30% of your time on the track at most. So cruise control FTW.

heated seats: I easily get cold so they do a wonderful job of getting me warmed up quickly.

And to finish it off. The high spec just looks better. Worth the extra 30k i would think so.

A, you get it. :D

Must be honest, I don't get cold easily. I drive with aircon on in winter so don't really have a need for heated seat, BUT....it is nice for freaking passengers out. :D

And then add your weight to the car. So best to go on a diet to improve performance :D

Its also worth considering what the weight difference is compared to a tank of fuel.

Anyway, stick a supercharger in and forget about it

You may not "need" the extras, but for me it makes it a nicer place to be.

-17" wheels: nicer design than the std spec IN MY OPINION
-Bigger front disks
-Bigger and vented rear disks and calipers
-Cluster with white rev counter and digital speedometer. Analogue speedometer is not the easiest to read quickly.
-Programmable shift light & buzzer
-Proper alcantara/leather seats
-Heated seats: don't need
-Bi-xenon headlights are superb
-Auto headlights: nice to have
-LED daytime running lights completes the look
-Passive keyless entry with stop/start. Love this!
-Cruise control: already explained above
-Dual zone auto climate control: adds to the "cockpit" look & feel
-Various leather trim around the center console a big improvement over the plastic in the std spec

The bigger wheels make a huge difference to the look of the car. My one main gripe with the 86 is that the rear wheels "look" too small, they are stuck in and there is a huge gap between top of tyre and wheel arch. With the 16inch wheels this looks even worse (even if the actual gap is the same). The rear wheels look even more out of place with the trd body kit. I've lowered the suspension and put spacers in to fix this and it looks a gazillion times better. It also handles better of course but its still easy to get the tail out with the additional power of the supercharger.

Heated seats I've never used, cruise control is nice now and again, keyless entry is great, other cosmetic stuff is all nice to have. I cannot imagine driving without the digital speedo. So High every time. The idea that Low is "race spec" made me chuckle.

Not quite - 50l of petrol = 37.41kg

Difference is closer to 26.8l of fuel - go on a diet and you're sorted. :D
