Whenever I remember, I'll go to the annual Father's day car show on Rodeo Drive, B.Hills. I observe the cars, the details, how the seats are, imagine myself sitting in it, owning one, driving one, seeing how it would look in my garage, maintaining one, showing it off e.g.

Then I bring it all back to reality, how it would really suck on the road, those super thin wooden steering wheel, the awful sitting position, the temperamental engine, the rattles and noise galore, the running-on-high-heels handling, the oh-that's-normal oil leak e.g. After which I round it up by imagining how I can fabricate another piece to replace the broken part, how I'll stare at it in the garage fearful of driving it out, the horrendous insurance bill for this garage queen and the need to save up for the next repair bill.

I don't know about you guys but I go to car shows for the chicks. Here in the Bay Area at least, there's usually a surplus of eye candy at car shows. The cars are just an added bonus

I couldn't agree more.

However, I don't really understand cars and coffee either. I would rather be at home detailing my car or starting on a new DIY or even cruising! Maybe even doing something 100% non-car-related.

I love and live for my car, but maybe not as hardcore as these car show campers. I think I'm one of the few enthusiasts who isn't really a part of the scene.

The import scene changed a lot in my opinion, its more about stance now a days. A stanced car with only wheels is not show worthy in my opinion.I respect everyones craft but I like a fully done car that still hits The track every now and then. But yeah everyone has their own taste but to talk all day about whos car will win the show is lame in my opinion, sounds Like fest of girls just gossiping.

I want my brz to hella clean and functional, but at the end of the day I want to track my car. Thats where I get motivation to make my brz even better.

Show is cheaper than go IMO. Sure if you get down to the microscopic level it might not be, but for the average joe daily driver it is much cheaper to throw some coils or bags and some stanced wheels than build a track capable machine.

I have my own preferences regarding mods but I will never put down someone elses ride because it isn't modified the way I would do it. People supporting the aftermarket and car events (hard parked or tracking) is NEVER bad.

I hate import car shows, but love old car shows. It`s just great to look at all the history, from big honking muscle cars to sports cars and even the big old boats. Those were beautiful cars. 50`s, 60`s and early 70`s had the best looking cars.

I love the OEM car shows like the Detroit Auto Show, LA auto show etc. Or where I am it's the Seattle International Auto Show.

The reason? I get to sit in a lot of cars without having to visit loads of dealership and talk with slimy sales people. Where else can I go where I can sit in 40 different new model vehicles in the course of a couple hours?

Well most of you don't live in California obviously but our car shows aren't really just standing around and looking at each other with hands in pockets...there is usually a lot of different things going on at once. DJ's and music performances, drifting, auto x, beer and parts being raffled away. Ill admit after a few hours you kind of get over it though...Oh and not to mention the half naked women walking around.

But I do get what most of you are saying, building a car just for looks is a waste id rather actually use it. Especially the old F&F style body kits, big chrome rims and a sound system that costs more then the car itself
