my husband being the crazy lego collector, and me being the evil businessman because i want the sets kept in order......no mixing allowed lol

i give it a 7/10

wow a 7/10?? Thats like average. I wonder how awesome your 10s are. I would of given it a 9 or 10/10. Not a fan of animated children's movie myself, only went cause a cute girl asked me to go with her. It was pretty awesome, caught all the dc references, morgan freeman and will ferrel. cmon now!!!

I'm sure I'll check it out once it's out on dvd

I actually thought it was pretty good. It's a different take on the themes and Lots of subtle things going on in the backgrounds if you pay attention. It's the rare occasion that I'll buy a BR of a movie and this is one of them. There's are some cool callbacks, but I think some of the satire isn't as intelligently written as the original. This isn't to say that it isn't good, but it's also a more modern interpretation of the zeitgeist. It has decent action for those that want to turn their brain off and something to chew on for those that are looking for something a little more.

I just hope the home release has an extended cut because it seems like they trimmed it a bit.

BoxRZ_86 02-25-2014 11:14 AM

2014 Robocop. I thought it was actually great. different take then the original. original was a man who figures out who he is and seeks revenge. this one I thought was great cause it was more about the human side of him. not matter how much machine he is the human sides will is stronger. I thought it was great.

zenki_levin 02-25-2014 02:21 PM

Watched a few movies, some of them i had seen before others were new to me.

Donnie Darko 8/10

Hypercube 5/10:

I like the original cube, this one not so much. Characters were almost directly imported from the first movie. Whilst it was visually not bad i kinda had a 'meh' feeling when i was watching this.

Bad Boys 2 5/10:

Way over the top like most Bay movies.

Gin gwai 10 4,5/10:

Laughed a few times because some of the scenes are really ridiculous. I expected more of a Pang Brothers movie.

Evolution 6,5/10:

Some things could've been better but overall a pretty funny movie.

:bellyroll:

Lucky Number Slevin 8/10:

Topcast, great acting and surprising twists.

f0rge 02-25-2014 02:47 PM

Saw a couple of movies I've been meaning to watch this past weekend.

Ender's Game. 8/10. Very well done, follows the book quite closely, obviously with less details but still very well done.

Hunger Games Catching Fire. 8.5/10. Way better than I expected. Came right out of left field, or I didn't remember the 1st one very well. Have not read the books, but now I might.

Rush. 8/10. Very well done, even the wife liked it. Maybe not enough racing (or racing footage) for a racing movie.

Rid'd'ick. 6/10. Wasn't expecting much, didn't get much. B-movie backworld action flick.

zenki_levin 02-25-2014 02:49 PM

:bellyroll: Rid'd'ick is censored.

f0rge 02-25-2014 02:59 PM

^Lol i had to insert extra characters.

Didn't know this board censored people, i swear i've seen harsher words than penis.

rick s 02-25-2014 03:08 PM

Caught We Were Soldiers a week or so ago on the tube.

Decent flick

the road 10/10
the machinist 10/10
west is west 9/10
avatar 9/10

these movies i can watch over and over....the lego movie, not something i want to see more than once....i was falling asleep through the whole movie the second time we went to see it (didn't go because i wanted to, but because of the kids)

maybe you think it was so awesome because you were with a pretty girl ;)

Kelbyat07 02-25-2014 06:46 PM

If anyone has ever watched A Beautiful Mind, then you are my new best friend. This movie is very motivating and has one of the best climax.

lol

beautiful picture, interesting story....a movie i can watch more than once, and stay entertained.....i don't get it why people hate it so much....it's probably the second best movie james cameron did (i have a childhood nostalgia for the aliens)

brzr 02-26-2014 09:34 AM

saw an interesting spanish movie with antonio banderas "the skin i live in" , with a lol moment once you figure out what is going on
5/10

sprintertrueno86 02-26-2014 09:42 AM

Watched Gravity and Prisoners on my flight to HK. Both were great movies, Gravity creeped me out about being in space.

It's only up point is it's amazing visuals. Just because James Cameron invested the amount of money to feed Africa for a year (obviously joking) to make the camera. The plot is your basic Romeo and Juliet story thats a tad bit less poetic. I mean the concept of aliens, space travel, and world harvesting is a great idea and all but the plot just felt a bit linear. No offense, I'm no expert movie critic, but it was a bit too predictable.

On a side note, avatar is one of the reasons why i stay away from most 3d movies. Less than 5% of movies released are made with 3d cameras. The rest are just filtered in with a half ass 3d technology. This explains flat layers. Thats why I'm not willing to pay an extra 5-9 bucks for a 3d flick here unless it's "3d legit."

zenki_levin 02-26-2014 06:26 PM

^^Agree with that. I've only seen it once and that was enough. Besides the visuals it was a pretty generic movie.

OrbitalEllipses 02-26-2014 06:29 PM

LEGO Movie was pretty awesome.

You must LOVE Dances With Wolves then?

And for the record, Avatar is one of my most despised movies.

Ammonia 02-26-2014 06:59 PM

Last good movie I genuinely enjoyed was probably Pacific Rim. Thats on a purely enjoyment level.

I haven't seen many truly "good" movies since Gladiator, to be honest. Heres my very rushed and incomplete list for serious movies:

1. Gladiator
2. Fight Club
3. Inception
4. Shawshank Redemption
5. A few others to pick from. Pulp Fiction, Inglorious Basterds, Lucky Number Slevin, Sin City, etc

f0rge 02-27-2014 10:45 AM

I don't get the Avatar hate. Sure it was overhyped as the next great thing, but if you push aside all the crazy visuals, at the core it's still an interesting and entertaining story.

I also like Dances with Wolves lol.

f0rge 02-27-2014 10:47 AM

Oh yeah, I watched Thor: The Dark World last night.

Was pretty good, lots of crazy visuals. Probably not enough fighting for an action movie. Natalie Portman is still hot.

IloveBaldEagles 02-27-2014 10:56 AM

Teeth.
9/10 Story.
8/10 Plot.
9.5/10 overall.

fripsgirl 02-27-2014 10:46 PM

I just watched an oldie... Used Cars.
If you havent seen it, you should look it up- free on Crackle. It was an unexpectedly fun movie.

f0rge 03-03-2014 03:13 PM

Watched "Frozen" this past weekend.

Terrible. So much singing, plot barely made sense, wasn't even a good "girl power" movie.

4/10 - I almost turned it off like 3 different times.

nofferman 03-03-2014 08:11 PM

"Senna" - I loved the historic Formula 1 footage, and the story of his life & death is very well told.

strat61caster 03-03-2014 09:00 PM

The Wind Rises is heart breakingly gorgeous.

Fortis 03-04-2014 12:32 AM

Watched Gravity yesterday on Blu-Ray 3D. Not bad. The script was well written and the acting was quite good. I really didn't like the extreme streak of bad luck they kept having. It seemed like a totally unrealistic chain of events at times. I didn't like how dramatic Sandra Bullock was being in a few scenes but I guess that's just how her character is supposed to be played. As far as visuals... The cinematography and the CGI were amazing. This is definitely refference material to showoff your home TV. Simply stunning. Overall, I would give the movie a 4.5/5.

My problem with this movie is that I can't stand Sandra Bullock. I might never watch it.

Out of curiosity... Why do you not like Sandra Bullock?

Lol she just annoys me, I have a problem with women actors who are always in roles that are 10 years too young for them. Jennifer Aniston is another person who's movies I will never watch.

My wife always jokes that I'm going to hate her when she turns 40 lol.

Have you seen the Blindside? lol, I can see your point though

Cameron Diaz is another example IMO

The last good movie?

"The Wind Rises". Saw it on Friday. It is supposed to be Hayao Miyazaki's last film, and it definitely is one hell of a final piece (though the localization voice work could have had some better voice talent, but that's not the fault of Studio Ghibli).

FunCon5 03-04-2014 02:50 PM

"Good" is a subjective term. The last movie I watched was Poultrygeist - Night of the chicken dead.

WOW! It was crazy Bad! But, in a Good way! (for some) LOL! TROMA! B-Horror!

It is on Netflix.

Nevermore 03-04-2014 02:55 PM

I watched Drive again over the weekend. Very quiet movie, but I love their use of music throughout. Funnily enough, the first time I watched it was on TV and I knew it was heavily censored. Didn't know just how much until I watched the Blu-ray.

I loved Drive.

Another movie I thought was awesome was The Grey.

same here....can't stand those two
i think they're horrible actresses......and the movies they're in are questionable....usually dumb romantic comedies

i know i would have liked gravity much better if they had a different actress that didn't narrate what was going on....i was surprised to see sb in it

i like b movies

there's always something special about them....but i usually like the older ones from the 70's and 80's......even older like the ones with vincent price.....i gobbled up those movies when i discovered them as a teen....long time ago....sigh

JL_FRS 03-04-2014 11:58 PM

Prometheus 9/10
Should of film part two so waiting to find out what happens is shorten.

Man of Steel 6/10
Should of made it more like Batman Begins or skipped right into a Justice League movie instead.

Robocop 5/10
Unnecessary remake. Original was better.

Dragon Ball Z Battle of Gods 10/10
Gokou being badass.

and for those of you into subtitled asian films here are some suggestions...

Monga 10/10
Infernal Affairs I and II 10/10
Ip Man, the version starring Donnie Yen
