Agree, I eyeball C6Z prices every now and then. 505 hp / 3200 lbs stock, how can that not be appealing to someone as a track toy?

It does seem like the GT-Rs have gone downhill. Especially after seeing the video someone posted of a GT-R getting ripped in a street drag by somone in what seems to be lmost a stock FR-S.

The FRS and BRZ are not the King Cars you make them out to be.

All those cars you listed are much better.

However, if you like your FRS better than the list that's great!

It wasn't an appealing track toy for me.. It was beyond my capabilities for the most part.. And too hyper and non forgiving for my skills.
I had an E36 M3 that had the perfect balance of power and handling with reasonable sized tires and mostly stock engine. At least for my skills.
That was my track car..
Since I only see the track 2 times a year now... I went for the go kart handling and nimble feel for everyday use..

My head agrees with you, but my heart says otherwise :lol:

Seriously though I have heard Z06's are scary to drive at the limit with the lack of feedback. You kind of have to have faith that the car will stick.

I wouldn't trade this for anything currently on the market. I've had more fun driving this car than any other car I've owned (I think this is my 16th or 17th car, mostly sports cars).

I will tell you however, that I do miss owning a truck lol

That's kind of how I feel about the Z06 too - I know it won't feel as nimble, or give as much feedback as my Cayman, but I still feel like owning one is an experience I need to have at some point.

Regardless in drag or turns, the Gtr is so artificial and doesn't feel fun.

You have to follow you heart! I enjoyed owning the beast.. but did not enjoy it so much in everyday use. was my trophy car, so to speak.
It was fine when I had 2 cars of my own.. but not for my everyday needs with one car now.
That first gear pull to 60 makes it worth the price of admission..

A couple of weeks ago I traded cars with a friend who has a Porsche Boxster. After a day of driving it on the roads where I typically push my BRZ, I was left with the impression that in so many ways the Boxster was as good or 'better' including more power and better stability. (I felt the steering feel and feedback, though, were better on the BRZ.)

My key conclusion, though, was that the Boxster was nowhere near as fun, because the car did everything for me, and there was no way I could push it close enough to its limits on public roads so that I was being tested, and more importantly, so that I was fully engaged in the experience of driving.

Likewise, I know I would have to spend $30-40k more for the Boxster, along with more gas, higher maint, and less day to day utility.

So, the great thing was, I walked away content with my decision, realizing that more money, more power, more etc., don't necessarily equate with more fun.

What amazes me about this car is how I enjoy it more and more as time goes on. After 9500 miles the shifter seems smoother, the steering feels more intuitive, and it's easier to get a little looseness in the tail and let the balance of the car shine through. For an everyday driver I can't imagine a better car.

Great question, but as it is with all good questions, the "right" (for whomever is answering the question ;)) answer depends entirely on context. For example I am very fortunate and lucky enough to not have to choose 1 car to meet all of my needs. I have a car that is far more powerful and track worthy than the 86 and another car that is way more practical and utilitarian for the days when I need to cart more people or "things" :cool:

However as a daily driver to get me to and from work and to deal with the majority of the many little errands I may have to do, the GT 86 is almost perfect :bow:

Add to that the value for money equation and it is quite frankly unbeatable IMHO......an awesome car for the price :w00t:

My fiancé got one of those "drive a ferrari around a track" things for my birthday.
I got to drive a F430... but the whole time, I was thinking to myself, "MAAAN I wish I were in my FRS right now instead!"
I don't take my car to the track, but I guess it's time to start ;)
