Sticking with the scion. Looks better..... And their website is better :)
|
Not buying now anyway, my plan is to grab an STI BRZ when that comes out.

That is a shame. With a car like this, you should drive it 7 days a week instead of a few times a month. Your car will love you if you spent more time with it instead of beat it up a coupe of days each month and then leaving it alone in the garage. ;) |
I think this is the total difference between the FRS and BRZ premium since people are only mentioning the NAV and HIDs. Please add if there are differences I'm forgetting.
-NAV -HIDs with LED sorta halo(just overall nicer looking headlights) -Better quality seating material -LED DRL strip -Trunk lid liner Something else to consider. After a year or two of data collecting, insurance will most likely be lower for the BRZ. |
Quote:
-Different fender vent cover -FR-S has red seat accents, BRZ does not -BRZ has silver trim panel on dash, FR-S has black plastic carbon-look -BRZ has ebrake handle cover -BRZ has all black gauges with white/red lettering, FR-S has black-on-white for the tach -BRZ has auto on/off headlights Also might be worth looking at what's the same (the big stuff anyways): -All mechanical bits -All body panels except the front bumper -Wheels and tires -Steering wheel, pedals, shifter -HVAC controls, window controls -Number and size of speakers |

One thing that was brought up in the other thread - the Scion comes with a 2 year free maintenance program included in the price. So the price difference is actually a little bit more then $1300.

How much is 4 oil changes and rotating your tires 2-3 times worth for you? |

Then you are going to one expensive ass dealership/mechanic. Shouldn't run you more than $60-70 if you want someone else to do it. And you quoted the value of it as $700 in the other thread. I think someone is overvaluing this. |

That's why I'm leaning towards the FR-S; because of the ability to buy the car w/out having to pay for the extra stuff that I don't want. |

Then why in the world pick $2000 of all numbers? Why not think it through and pick a more appropriate number that would represent the truth? |

If you are waiting, you will probably be able to haggle the BRZ close to the FRS price if you give it 6-9 months. But if you like the looks of the FRS more or just Toyota that is fine to. |

I'm coming from cars that have much higher maintenance costs. I gave an estimate of what I'm used too. After poking around online, the costs aren't much less at least for oil for this car. Even at the extremely low estimates, we are still talking about several hundred dollars just for oil changes included in the price of the FRS. Seems like that should be factored in when people are talking about the "value" one car presents over the other. :happy0180: |

1300 is quite a difference, but arguably worth it. Now if you can close that gap a few hundred dollars, then it's like paying a bit under a thousand for HID and nav, which is a very good deal. Or, if Subaru brings a R-spec over, things could get interesting because the R-spec would end up cheaper than the Scion but have crappier audio, which Americans seem to care about. |
$1000 Scion Military rebate makes this over $2000 cheaper than the BRZ:thumbup:

I already tried doing that. Quote:

But that is ONLY looking at oil changes and tire rotations, throw in filters and potentially other odds and ends, inspections, etc. over 2 years, that could be one or two hundred more. Now we're talking potentially 400-500 - potentially at least. Good enough for me to say "closer to 2000" ;) |
Best car (to me) would be :
BRZ or 86 exterior with HIDs FRS tach FRS headunit but BRZ speakers (want good sound, but nothing fancy) BRZ Premium seats FRS "dash panel" (not the silver BRZ one) just for the lulz |
Are the speakers different between the FRS and BRZ?
If given the option I might actually order one without speakers :eyebulge: |

Randomly point at the car and be like, "mmm, I've never seen this car before, is it new... looks like it's been sitting here for a while!?!" Then the hustling starts! :bellyroll: |
I don't mind too much if the Scion doesn't sell. It's kind of nice to drive a rare car. I would be disappointed if it doesn't inspire other car makers to follow Toyota into this market and if lack of sales causes a lack of aftermarket support and factory car development overall.

What's with all of the QQing over all the "my penis is bigger than yours" talk. Are you guys buying this car to drive it or to show it off as a status symbol? Both cars are THE SAME. Subaru does NOT make great interiors. They never have. You want award winning interior quality? Go buy a BMW. You want a fun to drive car? Go buy a BRZ or an FRS and stop trying to say yours is better than someone else's. It's the same car.

One side note, BMW has never been known for their quality interiors either. ;) |
I'll get the FR-S, and slowly get the GT-86 parts from German headlights\fogs\ to jdm GT86 badges.... I should be fine... I want to keep the car looking clean.
