I used to do it more often, but not as much anymore. The times I still do it are usually on long trips, like where I'll be behind the wheel for 12-20 hours or more at a time. A lot of it depends on what shoes I'm wearing. The less comfortable the shoe, the more likely it will be coming off after 3-4 hours.

I have to wear certain shoes to drive the car right. Normal tennis shoes work fine but I typically wear a 7+ year old pair of new balances that feel best for pedal feel.

:lol:next time you get a pedicure ask them whether your feet should just HTFU!! :D

Only time I drive barefoot is if I need to move the car in my driveway. It's just uncomfortable driving stick barefoot

Nah. I tend to floor it on accident without any shoes.

puma is just a brand. im sure some of the puma drivers shoes are cool but probably not any better than any other driving shoe.

i drive without shoes but i dont condone it. i do it because im 6'2" and i drive an na miata so i dont fit otherwise. it does feel good though.

Learned to drive barefoot at a summer camp - 12 years old, no license or registration required there. Raced on dirt, gravel, anything loose where we could have fun. Would go barefoot all summer so walking on rocks, gravel, etc. was no big deal. Bottoms of feet got really tough. By the end of summer they were like leather.

That was 52 years ago and now my feet are worn out in many ways. So I wear old, well-worn sneakers with almost no soles. Get pretty good feel but with a little protection for my old feet.

After reading this thread I might just try barefoot again, if only for the nostalga...

Go barefoot when I have flip-flops on, never thought about it being better or worse, but I have to adjust my heel-toe strategy since my feet are wide enough in shoes to just use the sides of my foot rather than a proper heel-toe. It's against the law in TX, but flip-flops will end me up in an accident, so I'll take a ticket any day.
