In my area you can't even test drive without a non refundable deposit on the limited versions. Not a big deal though since they only last a day max on the lots.

I drove 7 hours for mine to get it in the color I wanted and while I was filling out paperwork two people came in asking if it was available. One even offered 1,000 over what I was paying but luckily I had already signed.

Very true. I also throw a few salt bags in the trunk for extra weight, but the key is a good set of snow tires. They make all the difference.

I just bought my brz yesterday. you can get a deal if u work for it. there might have been a total of 10 brz's within an hour of me and half of which were stick. drove an hour to this dealer and ended up getting there only brz on the lot for below their invoice price. its all about how u talk and all. I guess it helps that i used to sell cars too so i know all the tricks haha even got them to lower the price of their window etch haha.

Keep them on there toes keep badgering them the pressure of those BRZ's not selling will get to them eventually and they will fold maybe get 1k off the price.

There is one dealer offering me 1k off the price even if they have to order one in. They have a few on the lot but it's not the color I want and the others are premium models.
I'm just hoping for a price under invoice at this point. If not, waiting until 2014s come out and use the IMBA discount but I'm not sure if I'll be too fond of the changes.

My local dealer won't budge on it at all, said it was the best price he can give.

FiRStsc10n 07-12-2013 05:40 PM

I heard a rumor that the "revised badging" is they are removing the subaru lettering from the left upper trunk. Similar move to what Lexus has done in the States.

I talked to the salesman again today, said there was nothing more he could do on the pricing. I brought up what the other dealer was offering me and he just said that he would love to do the deal but he can't because of the margin on the car and that he needs to compensate for the car being shipped in.
After all that, he told me to buy it from him because it's local and that the service would be better.

Looks like, when I do get the BRZ I'll be going out of town to the other dealer. Just waiting to see if they'll do under invoice pricing, if not I'm getting a 2014.

I would but it's basically end of the 2013 models.
So why settle for $500-1000 off? If that was the case I would have taken it already. With the $1000 it'll still be around $36k here.

With the IMBA discount it's even more off(around $3500-4000ish) but I would have to get a 2014 model but it leaves me with cash for winter tires and insurance.

But if you have the extra cash, feel free to toss some over here. ;)

5th 86 07-13-2013 03:18 AM

Wel ya if u can save 3500-4000 then wait but for 500-1000 i would just buy it, what province are you in to get it up to 36k out the door? Thank god i am in alberta 5% gst only is nice.

Ontario. 13% HST
Yup..

Life is short, buy it now. I forget all my numbers as soon as I own her and take her up to the mountain.

Not very many scenic roads here where I live. :(

I can't give you any advice on this (was going through the same debate myself) but I can tell you the conclusion I reached:

I ordered my 2013 Subary BRZ Limited GBS yesterday! :P

Did you get any sort of discount on your car though?
The IMBA discount is quite nice.. but it would put me in winter when I'm eligible for the discount.

I'm also debating on MT or AT. Mostly city driving...unless I take roadtrips, but I'd say it's about 90% city driving leaning towards AT.

IMBA? I got about $1100 off MSRP (before taxes and fees). With taxes and fees, I paid ~$400 above MSRP. Still not sure if that was a good deal or not but... I wanted the car and they're not having trouble selling them, so.. :P

Yup, the IMBA discount gives a new deal without haggling but you need to wait 6 months after you're a member.

I'm hoping for invoice pricing. Still working on it.

$1000 off isn't much because freight is stupid in Canada though... $1595, the dealers around here want $1685. Then about $400 in fees and 13% tax.

If I take the current offer of $1000 off MSRP, I'm looking around $35500-$36000 with tax and fees.

Sport-Tech 07-14-2013 09:31 PM

If that is really too much money for you Ford Canada's got a good offer on the Fiesta ST now, you can grab one for $20,524 before taxes and shipping - and that's before bargaining with the dealer.

Nope. Every little bit helps. Snow Tires are a must here for winter, it's not as mild as Toronto. So anything to offset the cost of the tires would be awesome.

The purists and critics will come in here and wring your neck for considering an AT. But as a person that sits in 45 minutes of traffic daily myself going to work, Screw what they think. I love my 6AT. :D

Probably! It's rare that I'll go on a highway other than roadtrips which is once every 3-6 months. I'm hoping I'll take more trips once I get the car though.

If this was a secondary vehicle I would do MT but since it's mainly daily driving in the city... AT seems better. Work is not even 10 minutes away..

5th 86 07-15-2013 06:40 AM

If you have any percent of hooligan in you i would recomend manual, if you have stop and go and theres hills then auto... Maunuals really not that bad in stop and go flat roads... And manual kinda sucks on hwy cause you go to 6th and it just sits there, at least in alberta.

Best roads in western canada are on van island i think, i am heading there soon for vacation and fun woot woot.

For the first year or three after I converted to manual, I used to say the same thing to manual-curious people. Now, 6 years into only having manual vehicles, I no longer say this. Reason being is that now I'm very used to manuals, so on the rare occasion I'm driving an automatic and sitting in stop-and-go traffic, the auto actually has the audacity to try to drive into the car in front of me without me telling it to do that. It pisses me off!! Holding the brake down is less work than feathering the clutch, but I'm proof you can be used to it to the point of completely not noticing it until your leg begins to burn. And if I've been in a traffic jam long enough for my leg to start burning, I've got other things to worry about than my leg.

Plus, that's just an excuse to play the beloved How Coordinated Are You With Your Right Foot Game! You stall, you besmirch your family.

If its not too late get the MT. Otherwise you will always be thinking about it in the back of your head.

Ask a MT owner how often he wishes he had an AT. Even in traffic.

One occasion where I didnt...in traffic...trying to eat some fast food on a road trip...

So if you are in traffic a lot and eat a lot in your car then MAYBE an AT is going to more your style.

I think I would be safer with an AT, in traffic all the time. When I take road trips, I'll need someone to drive if I fall ill due to my medication. If they don't know how to drive manual.. then we would be stuck there.

Or just multitask like trying to drink something or check your phone (not text or call on it) or reach for something like a map  map

That is a good reason at it is...

AT in the GTA is pretty useful, especially if you have to do anything 401 for a commute in the West end.

That's where I usually go.. my doctor is in the GTA. I'll probably end up moving there one day.
