The front spoiler [bumper extension] may be aerodynamically helpful with reduced drag and lift, but that's just a guess.

Notice how the "STI" has a carbon roof, but it's not highlighted anywhere else as a product. Perhaps its hidden in the text.

The aero stuff they have seem legit. Front splitters are good because they reduce the separation right under the bumper, although this is a relatively small effect. The rear diffuser thing just extends the useful portion of the original one by a few inches, won't have much of an effect. The rear spoiler seems about right, the rear windshield angle looks to be around 20 degrees, which will cause some slight flow separation which the rear spoiler should help counter. Not sure but I think the little extensions going forward would help reduce trailing vortices.

switchlanez 02-07-2012 12:06 AM

Ehh it's lame if they don't offer STI parts/wheels pre-installed... I refuse to pay for a stock body and wheels, upgrade some parts, then be stuck w/ stock parts cause no other owner will need any for a while lol! Still waiting to see if Scion/Subie special editions come out a few months/year later.

...c'mon Nurburgring Edition!

dabocx 02-07-2012 12:09 AM

Well i have my goodie list to start off with. STI Front lip and rear diffuser.
TRD wing ( im wondering how ill get this since im getting a brz)

Snoopyalien24 02-07-2012 12:11 AM

KevinDuMa 02-07-2012 12:31 AM

Aside from the STI exhaust(which I like very much) I hope they add other performance mods to the list like an intake, headers, etc. Also looks like the interior trims will be interchangeable as well with the Fr-S for those who don't like the silver on the BRZ?

Giccin 02-07-2012 01:49 AM

Y NO PRICING. >_<

MrBRZ 02-07-2012 03:22 AM

The most exciting thing in there for me is the baby car seat option. Now my wife has no more ammo to use against me. Woohoo!

86design 02-07-2012 04:21 AM

Dang theres a few things I would love to have....that front lip and rear diffuser doesn't look to bad....but damn $729 for a rear diffuser I dunno.....

Dito.
Besides, I merely see optical "tuning" and no real performance STI parts. Hope that comes soon.

Grimlock 02-07-2012 08:32 AM

I expected to see some kind of suspension parts. Sway, bars, springs, shocks. But there's nothing there.:mad0260:

Yup, these accessories and knick-knacks are laughable, I hope the aftermarket responds with better parts.

spyderpez 02-07-2012 09:26 AM

Love the child seats (heck I just like having a back seat)... getting a baby just so I can utilize it.

old greg 02-07-2012 09:40 AM

Is anyone else deeply annoyed by the battery cutoff decal in the "graphics" kit? Or am I just crazy in the head?

no_name 02-07-2012 10:41 AM

I like that we'll probably be able to mix & match aftermarket stuff from the BRZ and FRS. I'm thinking TRD duck bill spoiler & STI front lip extension.

And you're right, that's completely rediculous.

DanPO 02-07-2012 10:45 AM

Using logical reasoning does anyone have an idea of what the STI will weigh in at with the carbon fiber roof? My guess is the same as a stock BRZ from the additional performance features.

It would depend on how much the hood weighs stock, CF is light no matter what but if the hood is small the difference wont be much.

EX: Installed a CF hood on my brothers SRT4 year back I could lift both hoods with one arm easy because its a small hood but could still tell the difference how little it was.

With that said every pound lost help.

Well the MY02-07 WRX STI roof panel comes in at around 26-30lbs. Id imagine that the BRZ with much less surface area and overall lighter materials used during manufacturing to keep the weight down, will come in at 18-20lbs.

If a quality carbon roof is produced, it would need to be 4.5-6lbs to make a real difference in actual performance. We really want to ideally aim to shave 25% of the weight on the roof.

JohnnyR 02-07-2012 07:06 PM

If the STI exhaust is the equal to the SPT exhaust, it'll probably be well constructed and sound great (not too loud for those who worry about that).

Shocked that there's no spring kit personally. Maybe TRD will have that, as they've had it for other cars.

"Searching for key words 'supercharger', none found". :(

Produced for our ricer crowd friends?

serialk11r 02-07-2012 08:06 PM

The decals suck yea but the deck lip spoiler's funky shape is likely for allowing the air coming from the side of the car to meet air on top of the car at the same speed. Not worth 500 bucks though.

delongedoug 02-07-2012 10:58 PM

All this carbon roof talk is just masturbation fodder for the bench racers. No one's going to actually be able to take any remotely discernable advantage from it. Just something to tell your friends your car has.

The last SPT exhaust for the STI was truly expensive... $1067 MSRP option for just a catback.

MRZ415 02-07-2012 11:47 PM

I saw in the options list of a Rear Under spoiler.... is there a function to this ?
or will it be a "COOL" mod. ?

serialk11r 02-07-2012 11:49 PM

I said this a few pages back or something, but yea it extends the original diffuser like 2 inches so it'll improve your aero a tiny bit, for the wonderful low price of 700 dollars. Might as well tack on some aluminum sheet by yourself for much less, and cover the whole bottom while you're at it.

delongedoug 02-08-2012 12:09 AM

Same for every one of these nonsense pieces. If you want to pretend your factory lip is functional, knock yourself out. Don't expect anyone out of high school to believe you.

damn, that spoiler is way too big for this car... i think my stock sti spoiler was actually SMALLER, haha... oh, and it's a total cop from the last gen celica with action package; i'll pass on the boy-racer look...

the front lip looks pretty nice, though... i'd rock that and the trd duckbill !

Levi 02-08-2012 07:22 AM

I'd rather spend 4K on a CFRP roof than 2K on useless Race Inspired Cosmetic Enhancements. I'd rather spend 4K on Volk rims than on an overkill 4K TRD BBK. Other than the roof, the after market will offer better performance parts for less (AP Racing, Moton, Invidia,...)

jonnyquest 02-08-2012 01:58 PM

This is whats going to happen

White BRZ
STI front and rear lip
STI wheels powder coated deep bronze
TRD duckbill spoiler
86 side vents
and whatever STI performance options are available suspension, brakes, etc. And hopefully a turbo kit in the future
