Probably some garbage pickup or sedan. Seeing it wouldn't have made much of a difference since they probably didn't have insurance. They get a ticket. You get to deal with your insurance.

Sorry to hear about that. But I think we've all learned a valuable lesson today...

SkitterSkotter 03-26-2013 09:07 PM

man, what a piece of shit that person was. I too hate our useless society that has bred people to pull this kind of shit. Last year someone keyed the entire side of my car and half of it had to be re-painted, it costed about $1,500 to get fixed but my insurance did cover it. Hopefully yours will too.

That sucks! I hope your five axis body kit was unscathed at least.

Then I would have given you their license plate number.

yeah! gotdamn cell phones are causin' tons of grief out there, that, and people's

Sorry to hear that. Consider switch to Netflix so you don't go to blockbuster again.

Ouch ... Sorry for your loss man ,

I happened to me before too on my brand new mazda3 back in 2004 ... Parked it in a mall for less than 30 mins, came back and my rear door is already busted ... Long story short, glad that I know a bodyshop that taking care of luxury cars ...

Best of advice is try to go to a luxury car dealership and talk to their manager about bodyshop they're using ...

Best of luck man .

Linniea 03-27-2013 01:00 PM

Deadspool 03-27-2013 01:09 PM

I'm becoming concerned with all of these smashed, dinged and written of threads that there is some serious voodoo on these things.

They wouldn't tell me or even call them as witnesses to the accident. Didn't care at all!
Guess if someone rents a Video then drives through their window they wouldn't try to find out who that was either. Assholes!! I'll be talking to blockbuster corporate soon.

Do it sooner then later. They don't keep surveillance footage forever.

One of the first mods should be a car cam like the Blackvue. It's a good investment to protect yourself and your car in the future. I plan on running one up front and one in back when I decide to purchase a BRZ.

Check out these two videos.

Black Vue Accident Cam - YouTube

Is that a front and rear cam?

sittinSideways 03-27-2013 11:44 PM

Underbody damaged huh? Any pics? What exactly got damaged?

Rampage 03-28-2013 01:51 AM

Find out if any of the stores around there have cameras trained on the parking lot. If they do then tell the police and your insurance company. The stores do give a damn and the police might not but your insurance company may pursue it. Good luck.

You can use one in the front and one in the back.

jarviz 03-28-2013 09:25 AM

how do you hit a car that hard to move it 3ft in a parking lot? i'm guessing the person was inebriated thought it was best to head out... nice wheels tho

Why does that amaze you? It's the American Way. It always surprises me when people do the right thing. I'd be curious if a dash cam might have caught this.

And to the OP: I'm sorry for the situation, that sucks. It always sucks to come back out to your car after it's been violated. Been down that road a few times.

schlomo 03-28-2013 04:45 PM

Something similar happened to my old 330ci while I was in a movie. They hit the front passenger side corner hard enough to ruin the wheel and damage the steering rack even. I just KNOW it was some dumbass on their cell phone.

madcap 03-28-2013 04:52 PM

Yeah the unibody was damaged as well, it's at the shop now. Not sure how long it's going to take to be repaired they told me some of the parts are on back order in Japan. The blockbuster manager is working with me (at least she says she is) by calling the four customers who were in the store doing transactions during that 30 minute period. It's a long shot now since I know no one will admit to it. I'm just looking for a witness. Here's some more pictures of the damage

I would be inclined to see if the manager can hand over the contact info of those customers to the authorities. Have them pay a visit to each one and see if they come up with anything.

ironically all they have to say is that the video doesn't exist,or been erased already. may take a court order to get 'em to release it. cops don't care! they won't force 'em! i know! been there! done that!
hell! they may even say they are "self-insured" and no cameras! this happened to me when i got keyed at a dealership of all places!

jmaryt 03-30-2013 08:43 PM

this is true ,IF you can physically "see" the cameras.check everywhere to determine if you can pick them up with your eyes,as they may be in discreet locations!.if you see them, one of them may have caught something, but remember,it MUST be clear,or you got no case! video will be thrown out as without merit, because of fuzzy images.
