thread #3...

Sportsguy83 03-19-2013 04:59 PM

Read the thread and thought for a moment I had time traveled to April 1st...

husker741 03-19-2013 05:00 PM

We should start a petition stating that if TRD or Subaru doesn't make any sort of FI in the next year, then an aftermarket FI kit should not void any warranty!

I can dream, right?

Good luck with that.

Murseman27 03-19-2013 05:11 PM

I have to ask, with what little info we have thus far, it some one were not to build up other parts of this kit what power seems logical with this kit anways?

WatchmaN 03-19-2013 05:12 PM

LOL, Ok silverdub once your done with your turbo we will build a supercharger ok? If we take are time we could get it out before innovate release their numbers. hahaha

Subzero 03-19-2013 05:14 PM

...that sorta makes silence golden again, doesn't it? :burnrubber:

husker741 03-19-2013 05:16 PM

I think it's Toyota's and Subaru's way of collectively saying "go fuck yourselves" to people that want FI.

raphy 03-19-2013 05:17 PM

i tried to lookup the part number but it wont show in my listing :(

Only other information I have. The kit includes only the housing manifold, rotor group, intercooler core, a signed by Jesus Shroud of Turin, a guarantee to enter heaven, and your weight in gold and low temp radiator. Mounting/fitment details are the responsibility of the race team purchasing the kit. Engine management software is the sole responsibility of the team.

Pretty crazy doesn't even include pistons or ecu

There, fixed it for you.

bolus 03-19-2013 05:27 PM

I could get another Atom for that much

SmsAlSuwaidi 03-19-2013 05:28 PM

LOL, i entered this thread with a smile, and I'm leaving it with laughter !

naikaidriver 03-19-2013 05:38 PM

Next time my dog does his "business", I'm going to throw a TRD badge on the pile, take a picture of it and put it on ebay for $500.00.

Scott

20valvewynn83 03-19-2013 05:39 PM

I was too lazy to write the whole paper on my phone but I did state what it included

raul 03-19-2013 05:41 PM

Is 26k for the two kit minimum, or per kit?

Per kit. You still have to fabricate the manifold and other things. It's for race teams. When my contact at TMS told me the kit 'announced' at SEMA would be cost prohibitive, he wasn't kidding lol

nonicname 03-19-2013 05:50 PM

26k is that Japanese money? There has to be a mistake.
I know TRD is expensive but this would be simply retarded. no one buys a $26k car and puts $26k on 1 single mod.

This sounds like april fools day in march.

Nobody puts 10 thousand dollar brakes on a 26 thousand dollar car either but thats what the trd bbk goes for. Guess toyota really wants their goodies kept off the street and in the races. At least we can all go turbo for 1/3 the price and double the power output of this kit.

That's really ridiculous. Does anyone know what kind of power the kit is making in the PWC car?

zoomzoomers 03-19-2013 05:54 PM

I think if people wouldn't get on member's cases for reposting, we'd get better more quality info rather than just a race to be first. My 2 cents...

Carbon420 03-19-2013 05:59 PM

If its for race teams only how can you consider it for retail. Sounds like they fudged the system and did bare minimum to meat requirements. Cause that doesn't sound "available to the public".

For 26K I'd rather buy another FRS. Oh well so much for factory performance.

I'll be in St. Pete on Saturday..hopefully I can get some pics of it.

coyote 03-19-2013 06:06 PM

That's consistent with TRD pricing.

This is the correct answer... but I still don't want it.

if it was 26k yen it would translate into the cheapest supercharger kit i have ever heard of...$273.40 hell i would get 10

jamesm 03-19-2013 06:29 PM

they must be doing some sort of spec racing that requires that kit. no racing team in their right mind would spend that by choice. they must have control over both the spec sheet for the intended racing series AND the price sheet for the parts required to build a spec car.

Trashed675 03-19-2013 06:41 PM

Wouldn't it be amazing if it was actually worth it? If it actually produced an extra 600hp or something crazy like that and we were all here bad mouthing it?

What?!? It could happen......

No spec release. You'd have to figure out the flow of the blower and do some math (I'm no engineer so...)

No engine management comes with it either, so you'd have to do your own fuel maps as well.

The price tag of $Ridiculous is likely due to its quality. RACE quality items are likely to be more durable/reliable than your usual street equivalents simply based on the fact that it is being run much harder than 'normal' use.

Cessblood 03-19-2013 07:08 PM

My friend checked the part number and it's not in the system yet. I hope $26,000 is a typing error.

Cessblood 03-19-2013 07:14 PM

I'm just waiting for someone to say Pre-April fools.

ahausheer 03-19-2013 07:22 PM

So all Toyota had to do to get around the race rules was have one of their invented subsidiaries (TRD) buy parts from Eaton, or whomever, put TRD badges on it, never test it for street-ability, and sell it for the price of the vehicle. Great, why do they even pretend to have rules or classes? I imagine all the other teams are pissed.

dem00n 03-19-2013 07:30 PM

And people think race cars are cheap?
