Our cars are total shit magnets, whether it being from trashcans to assholes in parking lots.

Trash cans are dangerous! One super foggy morning on trash day, I was backing out and hit a trash can right on the edge of my tail light! Busted the whole thing! Good thing it was in my previous car and not my baby! Be aware of trash day and foggy mornings people!

Think of it this way at least you can clean the condensation out of them now. ;)

Jeez, what's wrong with confessing to simple mistakes?

I think it's a natural outcome from our letigious society. Everyones lawsuit happy. Look at how we handle kids who make gun gesutres with their hands while playing cops and robbers. It's like people are just waiting for their chance at a "pay day."

Personally, I commend the OP for just taking the free meal and the repairs to his car. I don't think anything more than that was justified, other than the termination of the employee for a lack of integrity.

I'm a little saddened by the people in this thread to immediately said they would have demanded more. It was a mistake. Could the kid who hit his car have been a man and owned up to it, sure. But the manager took care of the issue and repaired the damage. What justification does he really have to ask for more?

I also want them to *KNOW* that mistakes happen, and if they man up and take ownership of the responsibility that goes with those mistakes, there's a future for them within my employ.

you are a good man to say this, because people who make mistakes today in "most" companies are let go,and this is because they can be easily replaced. in other words,MOST companies will f**k ya if ya make an honest mistake! they don't care!. people watin' in line for your job!
