In this case motion sensing would have been better but I'll need a 64GB card for the 24 hour window I want to retain. The slightest motion sets it off and it ends up running 24/7. I believe the camera can run for about 3 days before the voltage cutout. |

Buckled the fender fore and aft, scraped through the paint, cracks in the paint running down the fender, other scattered damage. Kinda hard to see in this cell phone photo. Nothing big but body work is never cheap. I'm looking forward to hearing the owner deny it. http://photos.imageevent.com/cyrilgr...216_075102.jpg http://photos.imageevent.com/cyrilgr...216_075113.jpg |
You contact the police & file a report?

The sooner you can do it (get the police involved) the less chance the wank will have to get any damage to their own car repaired. Extra evidence in-case it's needed if you have to go through small claims.
|
shouldn't be too hard finding a IS-F on the road... in fact I bet the next one anybody sees will probably be that same car haha

The PO I spoke with tonight told me they will not look up any partial plates even with make and model, but I don't believe that's true. Waiting to speak with another PO tomorrow.

To be fair I'll see what someone else says, but I believe 5/6 digits and the make and model is an easy puzzle. |

I would have the insurance do the legwork provide the video and the tag information once you find out and then whamo |
wow. thats F'ing lame! lazy ass pig
|
So leaving the scene of an accident is no longer a crime out there. Speak to their supervisor regarding issues. If he doesn't do shit ask for the police PR department.

Have you ventured into any Lexus IS forums? I'd imagine owners of such high end cars like an IS-F would be involved in forums to meet local owners as well. |
I wouldn't count on the cops for any of this. Check with your insurance company if the video is enough to file a claim without it being your fault. (Not sure how it works in your state) They can find the driver (or car's insurance company) and go after them.
It's not really a criminal issue, and they can get in WAY more trouble than it's worth by giving anyone's personal information to you. I know it sucks for you this week, but next week when you cut someone off in traffic and he's asking the same cop for your home address from your plate number you'll be glad it's set up this way. -Justin |

If I remember correctly your insurance can actually look up the car that hit you as well or better than the cops. At least I've had them help me when I've written down the wrong number. The video should be enough to prove it wasn't your fault if that matters to your insurer and if they want to go after the car that hit you (probably worth it given the damage) then they'll figure out who it was for you.

Actually in most states, this is a criminal issue. Leaving the scene of an accident, and failure to provide information are both criminal offenses, some states punishable by jail time. |
It would be easy enough for this guy to say he didn't know he hit the car. He was backing up with the stereo turned up, noticed the car and drove off.
There often also has to be either personal injury or property damage over a certain dollar amount to trigger the charges. -Justin |
Great job tracking him!
|
pwnt! I bet you could sue the person too.. Ghetto lottery ftw! (and new aero/engine mods!)
|
It works that way in Texas too. They don't like it when they have to respond to minor fender benders where nobody is hurt. They tell you to drive to the nearest station and fill out a police report yourself.
If the other person has no insurance or is giving any hassle at all, call them up. |

Enter Vin# into google, luckily since its a pretty new car it was still listed on dealer website popped up all over that dealers web presence. |

While the rest may be true, around here if someone has the info on the driver it's pretty common to get in some serious trouble for a hit and run of any sort. Edit: In the first few frames you can easily see the 5 numbers of the tag, making out the F later. Definitely F68-BRV. Nice job guys. |
In NYC, they just call that 'parking.' They'd have to triple their police force to track down every bumper tap. They even make bumper blanket things you roll out to cover your bumper and protect it from the inevitable parking rash.
I'm not saying it's right.... but it's almost impossible to find a street-parked NYC car without bumper damage from careless parkers. -Justin |
Id prefer if personal info was kept in PM guys.
Yeah he hit someones car, but no need posting his name and other private stuff on a forum anyone on the internet can view... Thanks. :thanks: |
If a moderator feels like its against the rules they can delete the info... People like that who do hit and runs I don't really care if people spam him... especially when he obviously has enough money for insurance when he is driving a 65k luxury car.
I did PM all the info I got to the OP |
