I'm actually very surprised you didn't just bold the S2000 owners part.

I havnt looked into anything honda since because this car = fail. Fail enough that there is no replacement for the s2000 :( |
dude chill out, this is the internetZ, nothing said on this forum is actually going to affect your life.
If you cant handle a light attitude, and some sarcastic flavor, then either don't fuel the fire by comment on it, or just dont post here. I personally thought the post was funny. Just relax and take whatever you read with a grain of salt. |
Well I just hate it when people do that. Sorry I dont appreciate douche like behavior.
Grains of salt will be taken from now on... |

Ohh you'r good man.
It was the other quote i had that I flipped out on haha. But why is honda doing this?!!@! they are ruining their image/brand :( |

The NSX I think fell into that same kind of thinking before the S. It started with a 3.0L in 1990 and in 1998 they gave it a 3.2L but didn't really change anything other than that. Sure that gave it more power but it didn't reinvent the car like it needed to be, in order to increase sales. The NSX was/is the poor man's supercar. There are a few iterations of the NSX too but that's a different thread. I'd give my left nut for a NSX-R though. That is one hell of a machine. As I think Matador said, Honda traded in their nuts, which is unfortunately true right now. Hopefully with the slew of performance coupes coming out in the next few years, Honda will take their nuts back and start back up with their RWD program. |

Its a joke anyways....partly. SK2 guys, the ones I've met anyways, are typically pretty cool. They love the S2K for many of the same reasons I love my AE86, which puts us in the same enthusiast bracket. Miata owners are so full of themselves sometimes, because of its SCCA dominance, sales numbers, and the fact that the car looks like a susy blondey car so they gotta beef up there chest and pound on it to compensate. Impreza owners and so varied...you have cool ones and then you have the yokles that act like a bad acting crew mimicing the fast and the furious. Toyota fans weren't typically like that, until the Mk4 Supra came to popularity. I remember when I had my Mk3 and ran into a mk4 owner at a local Sonic. I tried talking to him, but all he said was "Oh, you got a Supra? Yeah, one of the slow ones." Effin bandwagoners. |

It is a running joke that the MkIII gets ragged on and it's balls busted a lot though :bellyroll: Pity Toyota never gave you guys the MkIII.5 JZA70. Awesome stuff. Blame Toyota. Quote:
That being said, Check this out. |

Never said that they weren't incredible cars, just that they are they exception rather than the rule in Honda's lineup. |

This recent news sounds great. I hope what theyre saying will actually be the final product.

ooo i love it. i need a bigger garage before i'd be able to buy this one.
:sigh |
Its certainly a refreshing change from a manufacturer- i've been thinking about a 370Z recently to replace my MR2 Turbo... but its such a big boat, 1500kg fueled! Sure its got 320-odd bhp, but wouldnt it be better if it was lighter? I've been looking at all the things you can throw out or change to reduce the weight.. so far i've worked out a 65kg loss for £1650
...but a better performing car for less money, now you're talking :) Renault already do this with the Clio 200, if you go for the clio 200 cup its lighter with less frills and is also less money. Come on Toyota, get this car to market so i can buy one!! |
ft86club.com made it on edmunds talking about the proposed track version

exciting news, this will be a good platform to modify as you please.

The only thing I am worried about with the stripped down version is insurance!
Other than that, if it still has cruise control and A/C I am down. Who needs a sound system? bwahaha |

I never understood this. :iono: A lot of people over on the Genesis Coupe boards are also bitching about how the R-Spec got rid of cruise control. WTF? It's supposed to be a stripped down version that you can use as a basis for your track car. How many times are you going to be using cruise control on the track/auto-x/rally, etc? F*ck cruise control. I've got it on all of my cars and I never use it. I'm down for the track model because of the better suspension, bigger brakes, LSD, and the cheaper price. Everything else is just a bonus. Of course I'll probably replace all that shit when the aftermarket picks up but you know what I'm saying. |
ive never used cruise control in my life, and i've driven from vegas back home which is a 5 hour long drive
|
I mean cruise control is nice when ur college is 250 miles away.
My current car dosnt have it so I think I prolly wouldnt care either, but it would be nice! |
I love the idea and can imagine how fun an affordable straight-from-factory performance-oriented car will be, I'm just a bit scared as to how insurance would be with all the teenager drifter-wanabes flipping these cars that their parents bought for them when they powerslide into curbs
|
Roll up windows
AC delete Stereo delete Carpeting delete Manual only Fixed racing seat option And why not a 10hp bump? Bring it on. This I expect at or under 2500 lbs. |

Its an 8 hour drive back to my family's hometown in northern Indiana. I've driven that trip several times. 14 hours to our grandparents condo in southern florida, done that trip several times as well. Trips like those Cruise Control realllly becomes an awesome luxary. Not like its ever worked on my AE86 since I've owned it, but the few times I took the Supra down there, I definitely used it. |
If they make a lighter track version I will buy that instead of the new 5.0 Mustang
|
as much as I am sold on the features on the track version, I hope they have a "fully loaded" version, for people who are going to be DDing their car. I will need cruise control, power windows, and air conditioning lol.
|
Quote:
Track models are somewhat new in the market place (true track models imo). 'Fully loaded' has been around for ages and honestly, its a staple of car sales. No way they won't offer it. Fully loaded will sell twice / three times more than the competition version. |
ZOMG!!!11! Cruise control is for teh pansies!!!1 :bonk::party0030::bellyroll::paddle:
Come on now... (although yes, I can understand why they would consider taking it off a track model... but really, how much weight is added due to a cruise control module?) |

i like that the track model is CHEAPER than other models, that's its biggest selling point for me (and the brakes/suspension). if i could add a couple options to the track model, that would be perfect. track model + a/c + cruise + cd = -Mike |
Quote:
I mean... fair enough, like I said before, you could have a model without carpeting or a sunroof and add beefed up brakes and suspension and make the ac/radio/etc etc a "delete" option... but why not just offer the delete option on the standard model? It'd amount to pretty much the same thing. |

the FT is going to serve as my daily driver. Nebraska summers are hot and HUMID. i also take numerous road trips back and forth from Omaha to SoCal. between 21 and 30 hours driving time, depending on which route. oh, and i like music. :D -Mike EDIT: were it not for them saying the track model would be considerably cheaper, i would not be (as) interested. |
