It could be if the car comes with unpainted bumpers, 16" steelies, no radio/cd player, no fog, no HID, no projector, 2 speakers.

Except that like all of those really base versions they are never sold here. How many would they sell? The vast majority would pay more to have a car that's ready to drive (without looking stupid like the customize grade) right away except maybe show car people and guys building race cars.

I bet those sales would be single digits a year after the first year.

If you compare the dimensions, the BRZ is:
40mm shorter in length → different bumper design
15mm shorter in height → lowered suspension
5mm narrower in width → different mirror design

The cabin size should be the same as in the FRS...

I was thinking that but... hmm wonder why the suspension is lower?

Does this make the BRZ have a lower COG than the FR-S?

Looking great wing than k you

lancie 11-07-2011 07:35 AM

mmm...brz is 1270kg --- ft86 1230kg.....why??

spin9k 11-07-2011 08:11 AM

Little enhancement shows strange things. Not sure if they are real or not...

1. Do I see a trapezoidal hole below the logo?
2. Why the split in the grill at the word "Subarau". Definitely two different structures there and it doesn't look like a simple bar like the Mazda cross bar, or the concept.....it has a slit in it and the little cutout at sides.
3. European version with the headlight wiper knockouts.

1270 is the height in mm, not the weight

Hmmm. BRZ daily, FR-S trackstar?

Required in some of Europe I believe so that's likely a non us market car in the photo. they aren't very popular here so I doubt we will see them :)

look the "specifications"....2800lb are 1270kg

skeeler 11-07-2011 10:29 AM

The small height difference could also be due to slightly smaller rolling stock on the BRZ.

Snoopyalien24 11-07-2011 10:30 AM

So compared with the Honda S2000

S2k - Length 4,117 mm (162.1 in)
Height - 1,288 mm (50.7 in)
Width - 1,750 mm (68.9 in)

BRZ - Length - 4,200 mm (165.4 in)
Height - 1,270 mm (50 in)
Width - 1,770 mm (69.7 in)

Doubt it, I mean they put it the 48 in for height, that's what a Miata is. Just coincidence. They wouldn't put Length x Width x Weight lol

1270 is the height of the brz not the weight.

Or those ar preproduction estimates and not the real numbers :) who knows. I think tire and wheel sizes are the same for both.

It just looks like shading to me?

NumbersGuy 11-07-2011 10:44 AM

That looks awesome and I love it! Oh well, there goes part of my paycheck!

Snoopyalien24 11-07-2011 10:51 AM

So im guessing they will also have 5 X 100? Like a model of their WRX certain year that escapes my memory lol

Ryephile 11-07-2011 11:38 AM

Me gusta! I look forward to the full reveal next month. I see the headlights have a C-shaped light pipe around them, similar to the BRZ Concept STI; It seems those will be production light design themes, which I like; very Audi-esque.

iff2mastamatt 11-07-2011 11:41 AM

It's looking sweet, but I don't want to get my hopes up for another concept.

dreamspeed 11-07-2011 11:42 AM

The first thing that pop into my mind when i see these pictures is

Mazda-ish....the hood is somewhat miata + RX7 (FD)...with a hit of the current Mazda "fish like" cues.

The front end could also be S2000-ish with it's clean lines

KaliKev 11-07-2011 11:56 AM

Well this is the production version, and that is definitely a vent!

(for the turbo version) :bellyroll:

Here's the portion of the Subaru press release regarding the BRZ and its upcoming debut at the Tokyo motor show:

2. Mechanisms
Founded on the third generation Horizontally-Opposed engine, the SUBARU BRZ carries a new 2.0 liter Horizontally-Opposed 4-cylinder engine which was specially designed to fulfill the desired factors of a sports car.

Specifically, the bore and stroke are set in a square formation of 86 x 86mm and combined with Toyota's direct fuel injection technology (D-4S), thus allowing higher output and more environmental friendliness - the ideal for a new age sports car.

So here the BRZ has the same length and width as the FT-86, but is 15mm higher!!

But according to the Japanese official website it's supposed to be 15mm lower than the FT-86. So which one is right? So confused...:iono:

(I hope it's the lower height that is correct because that almost certainly translates into a CoG that could truly be the lowest of all production cars!)
