Honestly, looking at some of the ignorant comments about "all Scion/Subaru owners are X" or "Scion/Subaru cars are only for Y" and (my favorite) "I'm too old and won't be caught dead driving a Scion" on this forum I'm sure there will be some tension/division. That being said, the members that make those statements are not going to be missed during the AS1 meets so...

I hope we'll be united and thus have better aftermarket support.

If anyone hates on you purely because of the car you drive, they are an asshole.

Right. But our cars will make it to the meet.

LOL....I've had plenty run ins with Subie dudes. Hence why I just said he has a misconception. Probably one of those people who jumped on the bandwagon rather than witnessing it for themselves.

Honestly, plenty of assholes driving GT-Rs, Z06s, NSX, Vipers, Carreras, etc. You can drive whatever you want, you can also decide to be or not to be an asshole.

I don't care what model you drive, if you're an idiot or a jackass then I won't want to be around you. If you're cool to hang out with and like to bullshit about cars for hours at a time then we'll probably get along.

I think we all just need to have a barbecue and throw back some Coronas.

I'll take some dos equis.

Sometimes I feel like a badass and pull up my Yaris next to a modded car. (Recently it was a 2010 Evo).

I told em'..

"Yo.. my car has 104 HP vvti and goes 0 to 60 in 16.3 seconds"

The guy just stared at me.

I'll record it next time. Since it was a friend of mine I ran into on the street. :D

Mari0 12-28-2011 09:20 PM

:laughabove: I bet the guy in the evo was sh*tting his pants

even if you get the Toyota/Scion variant you should be able to roll to Subie meets and park your car. people who are gonna get hung up over the badge are people worth ignoring.

Just be sure to set your record speed to a quarter mile at a time, it would be a shame to run out of memory on the camera

The DosXX is on me whenever we end up at the same meet as each other.

JDLM 12-29-2011 09:24 AM

It's funny I noticed w/ the last "new" Si came out they had similar talks and someone started selling stickers (to support the website they were on or something) and they used the chassis designation for part of the logo. Well it was mainly the Si guys that were doing it and got all bent out of shape when the non-Si guys had them on their cars lol

I can see it now owners of the FR-S and BRZ w/ the same type of logo decal and one of them (if they didn't know the cars well enough) getting mad

Levi 12-29-2011 01:24 PM

Sorry if I missed it, but what is "AS1"? Is it the internal chassis code like "S15" for Nissan Silvia, "E90" for BMW 3 Series, "997" for Porsche 911 or "W221" for Mercedes S Class?

Yes

. Last year, Toyota decided to sell U.S.-bound cars as Scions, so technically  there will be three iterations of  the AS1, including those sold as Toyotas in foreign markets where Scion doesn’t exist.

LMAO! I want to see that video!

Now is your Yaris had hydraulics...or 24 inch rims, that would be even funnier!

LMAO!

Source? Look at the top of the forum. Hachi has included it in the forum naming.

Yeah he sent me a few pms (and a link to a very old article about the car(s) which was way outdated for information

I googled some stuff and sent him quotes etc.. he wants to know where AS1 came from (one article came from a source at Subaru/Toyota) during a test.

SVTSHC 12-29-2011 06:00 PM

I don't see why not, and if I end up getting an AS1 I'll be running with the 'no-badge' crew. Subi or Scion

i don't want to hi jack this thread.. i was looking for what i thought was common knowledge that i was missing.. it turns out that i'm not the only one so i will start a new thread.

as for being divided.. the site already segregated subie into it's own camp (other than pics) jokes :)..

i think just like anything else there will be clicks but for the most part we will unite under the metal, motor, and drive line .. dare i say .. AS1
