+1 on that. Mine just got shipped so not sure when it will arrive. Please post pics once you got them install!

JPxM0Dz 10-24-2012 01:17 PM

Looking at the pics, I can't see how those clips would offer any more support over 3M

Bolts yes.

The clip are to just cover the wholes on the gurney flap, not meant to provide any more support. I dont want to drill into my spoiler...

edit: sorry I get what you mean.. yeah those clips drilled in probably wont do much for more support..

Beyer Subaru 10-24-2012 02:31 PM

The clips are a fail safe. If the 3M tape fails, then the clips would keep the gurney attached.
Kinda the same reason that there were like 17 holes for the 04-07 STi high wing and we have 7 or so in our low wing.

JPxM0Dz 10-24-2012 07:16 PM

Got my tracking info today! Like to see one installed if anyone has gotton around to it yet

spitz 10-25-2012 11:06 AM

I mocked it up last night, but it was too late to take any decent pictures. The 'so-so' quality of the wing looks 10x better when it is actually on the car. In my opinion, looks better than stock. I'll definitely be putting it on!

Norkoastal 10-25-2012 02:35 PM

Cant wait to see... With the darker colors this may add a bit of flair without the "too much add on" look..

PRORICAN 10-25-2012 08:53 PM

Mine arrived in NY today hopefully at my house by Saturday!

cantaloupe 10-25-2012 11:19 PM

this thread needs more pics!

PRORICAN 10-26-2012 08:17 PM

Installed it today! It's smaller than I thought but I think it looks good and adds that needed flair to the low stock wing.

Looks great! Thanks for the update

How did install go, did you just use the 3M or did you also drill the holes ?

Thanks, no prob! Install was super easy but I just used the 3m tape. Not sure if I want to drill the holes since the tape is holding pretty strong.

Yeah it looks like the 3M covers a good majority of the lip, so long as it went onto a clean surface it should be rock solid!

Did you fill in the two holes ?

zoomzoomers 10-26-2012 08:44 PM

Looks good on your white car!

Not yet, it started to get dark outside so I decided to finish tomorrow. To drill or not to drill? Not sure yet or at least figure out a way to cover the holes.

Can you take a closeup shot of the included pins ?

Ok thanks! That's what I thought, so basically drill the hole just big enough for the push pins to lock into the hole

jkonquer 10-26-2012 09:00 PM

Yeah dont drill hole for that little thing. It probably does nothing. Just cut it up and cover the holes

Yeah if I drill holes I might as well put bolts in, that way it'll be worth it so Im leaning towards just covering the holes like you're saying.

I installed mine earlier this week. The industrial grade 3M tape should be more than sufficient to hold this piece in place. Properly prepping the contact surface of the spoiler with a degreaser (like alcohol) will ensure full adhesion. I chopped the pins so that they are tall enough to bite and lock into the thickness of the rubber flap but short enough to clear the stock spoiler. It's a better finish than just leaving the holes exposed (where dirt would otherwise collect).

Edit: This is the same rubber material and 3M tape used on the rubber skirt flap that attaches to the STI front lip and I didn't even drill that in either; it's staying on with just 3M tape and has scraped against pavement a few times a month, withstood 80mph 1+ hrs freeway driving head on, car washes/rain, and it's still on there strong.

cantaloupe 10-26-2012 09:09 PM

Can we get some distant shots of the back? Thanks!

I prepped the surface with alcohol so I should be good. After install I tried to move it and is on there pretty strong.

Plastidip

ATL BRZ 10-28-2012 07:35 PM

I got mine on Friday and I have no idea how to properly install it since the included instructions are in Japanese. Do you have to remove the spoiler from the trunk lid and take it apart? Any trimming? I need help translating the instructions or some installation pics please.

PRORICAN 10-28-2012 08:59 PM

No need to remove the oem wing just clean/prep area and carefully using the provided 3m tape put it on following the edge of the wing.

ATL BRZ 10-29-2012 05:08 PM

Thanks for the tips, got mine installed!

I did drill the required holes after mounting it with the included 3M adhesive tape to put in the included pins as reinforcements. I'm happy with the overall fit and finish of it as well, and I really like the way the OEM spoiler looks with it now. Subtle aggression.

Do you remember what size of holes you drilled ? ;)

JPxM0Dz 10-31-2012 04:18 PM

For you guys that have installed the gurney flap so far, how are you finding fitment ? Do you start flush against one side and it's snug when you get to the other side ?

Got mine today!

3/16in bit, but that was just barely not big enough the first time, so I went back and wiggled the bit around in the same hole while drilling with the same bit to get it just a hair bigger, and then the pins fit snug.
