Is he another FR-S owner? If so, tell me he drives a orange/coppered colored FR-S or a whiteout. Those are the only two I've seen in my area xD

Just gotta wrap up some work today/tomorrow and my weekend is free so I could definitely take the ride!

Hmmm, now THIS is interesting :)

Excuse the lack of trim ring, I paid for the surround that @PrimeMotoring was selling about 3 weeks ago and STILL haven't received it. Nor have I heard from him.... :(

greenguy101 10-12-2012 02:51 PM

Total Awesomeness!!!!!

Nice, how much was it for the head unit and OBD2 interface?

Are you dumping your other head unit?

The ca-fi is 999$, but has a few advantages over the Adayo. I'm going to do a comparison soon. Heading out in a little bit to shoot some videos and pics. :)

Ironically this is pretty much the exact setup I was planning for my R53 Mini Cooper on using a Kenwood KIV-BT901! I was going to have JML Audio here in St. Louis do the install for me before I decided to trade out to the BRZ. Thanks for the excellent write up.

From what I've read on <ahem> another forum <ahem> the Hertz amps are basically identical to the new PPI Phantom stuff. If so I'll likely sub out the Hertz amp for a PPI version to save some cash or maybe use an Arc Audio. Do you think the 5 channel amps enough for those two Hertz subs or would you recommend a seperate 4 channel and mono block?

Do you know if the Hertz 3 way setup support biamping or not?

2forme 01-17-2013 02:02 PM

The one amp is fine for the two subs I used. I was actually very impressed with the sound output.

Not sure if the 3 ways supports bi-amping. I can take a look at the crossover and see what connections are there if you'd like.

Skippman 01-17-2013 02:05 PM

I'd appreciate that. Wish you had a drawn out wiring diagram of what all you have connected and how.

I can easily do that :). I'll check tonight when I get home from work.

Skippman 01-17-2013 07:26 PM

Just out of curiosity, what all did you Dynamat? Any pics of that install? Any rattles with those subs you have?

The only thing that rattles is my rear view mirror (it's the homelink one).

What differences between cafi and adayo?

Thank you.

2forme 01-18-2013 08:54 AM

Although I will say, don't bother paying for the Ca-Fi. There are knockoffs on ebay with the same internals for half the price.

Huehuecoyotl 01-20-2013 12:25 AM

Happy with sound quality, s/n etc?

Yup. Can't hear virtually any difference between my buddy's Kenwood 6990 and the knockoff/cafi.

Would ya happen to know if they sell that enclosure, and if so how much we lookin at? I plan on putting just one nice 10 in there. I personally think this car is just too tiny to need 2 subs.

If you call them, please let me know. I need both sides for my 8's!

+1 On the wiring diagram, very interested. Also, what made you go with the HERTZ HSK for the front over other options? Thanks.

Have you heard the Hertz? Best speakers you've never heard off IMHO.

stea1thbear 02-06-2013 07:38 PM

How does it sound with the sub woofers turned off? How does the bass with sub woofers off sound? Thanks.

2forme 02-07-2013 10:42 AM

It sounds ok. They aren't paper cones, so you're not going to get ridiculous bass out of a 6.5" woofer. I can feel it on my leg, though. But then again, that's why I have 2 10's :)

Skippman 02-07-2013 12:18 PM

Do you have a hard drive hooked to that unit? How does then head unit work with it?

2forme 02-12-2013 10:02 AM

I used to have an SSD hooked up, but I recently bought an iPod classic 160gb to use in all my cars.

Trashed675 02-15-2013 06:03 PM

Hey @2forme, have you tried using the TV app? Just curious if you had any antenna's you'd recommend. I tried a cheapo ebay one, and it seems to have the wrong connection on it.

No I haven't tried. Isn't the OTA TV all digital now?

Yup, but as far as i know, the back of the knock off accepts a DTV input. I'll do some more looking around to see if i can find something that works.

ravenblackfrs 02-15-2013 07:38 PM

Dude, this is my first time seeing this build... I'm amazed! I'm going to have to print this out and read it like a book! :) I love the subs, thats exactly what I wanted to do to mine. I might hit you up with some questions or maybe some more pics... Might have to build mine JUST like this!

Did you get a price? I want to do 2 10"s just like this... I want THAT much bass!

Redmist 04-20-2013 06:49 AM

Just wondering how the Hertz amp is secured to the floor? Did you drill holes or use some sort of adhesive?

As far as audio equipment/speakers being used what do you recommend? I am looking for equipment with a flat sound. Keep in mind i have B&W loudspeakers at home as a reference. From what i understand as of now JBL currently makes some of the best aftermarket audio equipment?
