Toyota = "We have made a light weight, rear-wheel drive and a affordable...fucking profit from this car"

Bounce 09-12-2012 12:56 AM

I still don't get why you're so butt hurt over it, if I wanted this car as bad I would pay whatever it took to get it ASAP end of story.

They want to make extra $$?? It's a business and such opportunities don't get around for Toyota dealers often if ever... Ferrari/Porsche etc all do this get over it.

And calling out a dealer on the net is likely to result in legal action FYI, seen it happen all too many times on other forums.

os86 09-12-2012 12:57 AM

I call this BS, no fool in their right mindset will pay that amount.

And FTGOD, seriously dude get over it, there are other cars on the market with higher mark ups. We dont need another thread.

Sick of all the useless threads honestly, could have kept it all in thread

and i really have no care how much they sell them for, i got my BRZ at the internet fixed price. and if others are stupid enough to spend that much, thats their problem.

I was pretty lucky to pick my GTS manual up for $36,250 driveaway w/ 12 months.

czar07 09-12-2012 01:22 AM

Say they got it on a loan with 20k residual. What happens when it isnt worth 20k in 5 years..so in reality theyve probably paid double for the car

Dont like it? Dont read it!!!!!!!!!

@Bounce i addressed why i dont accept it in the second post... Dealerships will hold off handing over the car people have ordered, sell it at a much higher prive and the customer who ordered ealry on will just be told the car has been pushed back another few months.....

@yomchi1989 obviously there was more than one person interested in the car to get it even higher than advertised on drive I think?

If this was a private sale i would have no opinion other than well done.... The fact that its a dealership, that it is a demo and that the ad was misleading in saying "dont wait 5yrs for an available 86" i think needs to be called out.. So i did.. Well yomchi1989 did but anyway.....

Suffa 09-12-2012 01:25 AM

Once i get my car im going to put it up on carsales for 60k and if someone buys it ill just order a new one lol

FT-86GOD 09-12-2012 01:31 AM

But that isn't how their ordering system works, and you know it. :bonk:

Sounds legit...

Ill take it!

FT-86GOD 09-12-2012 01:50 AM

@JiB dont forget to include that u have the limited edition full size spare lol

wheelhaus 09-12-2012 01:59 AM

Those stating "wtf do you care, it's not your money" and "the dealer can do what they want", are missing the point. It's an issue of ethics. Yes, ethics extend to business practices. I would understand a small premium due to demand, but this is outright gouging and due to the order issues Aus is having, I also find it a bit offensive they wouldn't offer it to any of their customers who have pending orders. Granted, we, the enthusiasts are WAY more amped about the 86 than the dealers are, so we're also more prone to blowing this issue out of proportion.

Hell, my dealer here in the states did exactly that, he called me and said "Hey we received a BRZ for stock, its not the one you ordered (different trim and options) but if you want it, I'll meet you at the shop to do the paperwork". I was 5 minutes from leaving work when he called back and said it just sold to another buyer. At least he made an effort.

Do you get the engine too?

JiB 09-12-2012 03:10 AM

Engine not included*

autogyro 09-12-2012 03:18 AM

As wheelhaus says, it's a matter of ethics. I know that I will now never buy from Prosser toyota for example due to their unscrupulous tactics. Because it's advertised it feels to me it must be sanctioned from management on down to the salesmen, and that is the sort of business I as a customer would not like to deal with.

MarkMash 09-12-2012 03:34 AM

Shit that is awesome.

I should've bought 5

Really demonstrating my original point here. You sound like an over entitled child, is daddy buying this car for you?

grk 09-12-2012 04:23 AM

This is pathetic, was one thread of sooking not enough? Didn't you have enough of a cry? Acting like a little princess and making angry phone calls to people just makes you look like an over entitled child.

Haha, good one. Unless you're a dumbass you can talk as much shit as you like. Its prohibitively hard to link someones real identity and online identity, especially since the owner of ft86club will be based in the US. It would cost any dealer WAY too much money to be worth it.

st162celica 09-12-2012 04:35 AM

Im going to list my grey gts manual for 80k when it arrives in 3 weeks. I need the money.

Was my plan all along  take delivery of the car, put it up for 60k and keep driving it around. If someone buys it...

Calais 09-12-2012 04:39 AM

jeez man calm down its called people venting their frustration, if you dont like it dont go into these topics, you know the ones you can tell clearly which ones they are if you just read the title, imagine your car was delayed and you heard that your dealer was selling your exact spec or one you would've gladly settled for to get the car faster, for a massive profit, now wouldn't ypu be just as peeved as these guys are on here?

fuddbutter 09-12-2012 04:41 AM

I believe it was one of the limited edition "comes with spare tyre" models..

Thanks for your OPINION, but it has happened and will happen again under defamation there is nothing you can do about it they will out lawyer you in a heart beat.

Do a google plenty to be found, since my time on whirlpool 2007-present numerous cases have happened and that was by low-key computer shops.. not a huge motor company.

Did I upset you?

The article in the link you says that the website he posted on did not give up his identity. HotCopper appears to be registered in Australia, and as I said, this makes it much easier to bring legal action against them.

You think a smalltime dealership has the means to pursue international litigation? Don't be absurd mate.

BRAWL 09-12-2012 05:12 AM

The least ethical person in this situation is the dealership and the stupidest is the person who paid for it!

BTW, are you sure that the $63k was actually paid? Someone could have walked in, called their BS price and driven it away for what it is worth.

MarkMash 09-12-2012 05:29 AM

It's actually no ones business what people are HAPPY to spend on a car - no one is being forced to spend money on a SPORTS CAR (let alone a necessary hatch or family car)

What people are assuming here, is that $63k is A LOT of money and that it is BAD to spend that amount of money....

not for everyone.

Do you think that ferrari that sold for $xmillions under auction was worth that much? Definitely not - but someone sees the value in its rarity and is HAPPY to put that much down on it to have it in their collection.... no ones business but the person who has the money - people are free to do what they want with their own money. They also have the option to walk away.

It's not a big deal

czar07 09-12-2012 05:32 AM

I doubt calling a dealer a scumbag will get you into trouble. its an opinion? how the hell can you be prosecuted for that?

I think the point is that this dealer is selling these cars out from under the people who have been patiently waiting for the cars they ordered. What's the point of ordering one, if every time they get one in it goes to the highest bidder? These guys could be sitting here for years with nothing to show for their patience...

sho220 09-12-2012 05:39 AM

Was a price agreed on when you guys ordered your cars?

Righty 09-12-2012 05:45 AM

All these high prices are all good indicators for everyone who has one on order. The more people pay and the longer people wait, the longer our resale will remain high.

I'd much rather huge mark-ups than heavy discounts, this may in fact be the only new car that you won't loose 15% value as soon as you take the keys.

it's an ex-demo I believe, so it's not taking cars off other people...
