Does this include a customized tune for your locale? The reason I ask is most cars usually run a little better in my area due to low elevation, low temps, and being close to the ocean.

Visconti 08-02-2012 02:25 PM

Just got off the dyno.. Interesting results

Will post after lunch

Nice meeting you today John & Lee358. (Hey I just remembered, Lee, Don't you have the #86 Grimmspeed cap?) I'll make a thread about my thoughts and impressions of his flash since I have 100+ miles on it already just from the ride back home....err... back to work, actually. At least my managers were cool enough to let me sneak out for about 4.5-5 hours today to get a tune!

I'll use the rest of this tank up to get the "super spirited" driving out of my system and start a new tank to monitor results and return to normal drivign behavior.

I get off work in 50 minutes or so and I will make a post when I get home.

Don't think I met you today haha. I got tuned at nightshift and only remember seeing john and the people who worked there.

Sidenote so far the tune feels good. I notice a really big difference in 2nd gear. It's like a new car really. I just feel power all throughout the band up until 62mph which is crazy in second! I also notice in the higher gears it more punchy then usual.

I'm going to fill my tank up on monday put on some miles then see what I'm getting and inform all of you on here

Alrighty guys - as it turns out I caught what ever my wife had last week so I'm feeling a little under the weather.

I had interesting results today.

Let me start by saying that on a DynoJet 4th gear makes 10whp more than 3rd gear!

The FRS I was working on today belongs to Prime Motoring - Thanks mike for letting me do my thing while your in Poland !

Just like the dynosheet says -

Stock Car w/ Stock Flash VS Vivid Racing V1 Header w/ Stock Flash

Looks like the header picks up great power all by itself.

http://i190.photobucket.com/albums/z...der4thgear.jpg

Here is a surprise to me - STG1 Flash on Stock Car vs STG1 Flash w/ Vivid Racing V1 Header..

Stock car with the STG1 flash makes more power!

http://i190.photobucket.com/albums/z...der4thgear.jpg

Finally - Vivid Racing V1 Header w/ STOCK FLASH vs Vivid Racing V1 Header w/ STG1 Flash

http://i190.photobucket.com/albums/z...ash4thGear.jpg

Discuss !

Please note I was very clear - all runs were in 4th gear.

LivingLegend 08-02-2012 11:17 PM

Hm...interesting! Hope you feel better too!

mechaghost 08-02-2012 11:18 PM

Silverdub 08-02-2012 11:20 PM

Dont know what to think about that.... But great work on the tuning!

Visconti 08-02-2012 11:25 PM

Im disappointed that the gain from the header and the gain from the flash didn't add up together.

So now I need to find another header to test.

Then put a full exhaust on this car.

Although the flash + header might not seem worth the money right now I can say that the flash does have a lot to offer if not additional power right now.

-Higher rev limit
-More low end tq with direct injection tuning
-No longer have the crappy idle.

And when I'm finished better MPG.

In the next month you'll see me talking about EcuTek rolling out advanced RaceRom features.

-Launch Control w/ fueling & timing adjustment
-Auto Blip (yeah its cool)
-On-the-fly map switching - pumpgas / race gas - maybe a e85 option - still need to investigate this.

oh and pretty much anything else you want. ( Nice try - no hand held or real time tuning)

EcuTek listens - so if you want a feature we're not talking about - speak up and let us know.

You know what, I didn't even notice this, but I don't recall the idle dip occurring the entire drive back. It happens every morning on the way into work at the same red light, so I will pay attention to this tomorrow.

If it continues to be crappy I have another idle control table I can adjust

Stg1 test thread with updates on comments #27 and #35 for those interested. More updates tomorrow.

fenton 08-03-2012 12:24 AM

I think there is a problem with that header because all the dynos we have seen thus far in the vivid thread show it gaining no power or even taking power away from the cat back or crossover pipe. Love seeing more torque in the dip. I have just noticed recently that my idle has gotten rough, with nothing on it sits at 600 rpm and kind of flutters you can see the gear shifter shake and you can feel it in your butt. Two people that have driven in my car have both asked me about it and I can't say I remember it happening a 1000 km ago or so. Has anyone else experienced the low Annoyying idle?

Just so I am reading your dyno right..... stage 1 flash with stock header is hitting 178whp?

tjdiz92 08-03-2012 07:19 AM

Yeah this morning I definantly noticed my idle stayed at the same range instead of dropping down like normal.

Thanks for posting the results, is there a baseline dyno to compare these results with for the same cars on the same dyno >?

PRORICAN 08-03-2012 08:52 AM

Would love for you to try E-85. I used it on my Evo X and loved it! Cheap race gas ;)

Visconti 08-03-2012 09:41 AM

I'm hoping I can get e85 to work too.

I just need to figure out how to compensate the direct injection for the extra fuel needed. I know it can become, just don't know which map will give the best results

Run #1 on the dynosheet is the baseline.

CBR600RR 08-03-2012 09:48 AM

So basically a stock car with a flash can make an extra 13whp??? and the torque dip is significantly shortened???

Extra 18 whp...they lost power with the header, so that was the lower number.

CBR600RR 08-03-2012 10:20 AM

18 with just a tune???

any estimate on what a tune will cost???

will a dealer be able to tell that a tune was done???

Mild2Wild 08-03-2012 10:29 AM

John,

Would it be possible to get an overlay of the baseline and the STG1 flash w/ stock header?

Thanks!

This dyno chart is confusing to me. The colors are too similar and i can barely tell a difference between them. I may be mistaken, but it seems that you may have mis-labeled the lines at the torque dip. I highlighted what i think is the stock car w/flash in blue. Please clarify. Thank you.

(sorry had to use dropbox cuz imgur is down and my office blocks everything else)

The re-flash is $950 plus shipping, and yes. If you need to take the car in for warranty work, you just have to flash the stock map back in.

CBR600RR 08-03-2012 11:02 AM

^ all easily done with a laptop?

(thats the way I do it with my bike anyway - I assume its not all that different)

Edit: $950 seems a bit pricey. For my bike a powercommander was $280 plus $300 for a tune on the dyno. Apples to oranges - I know.
