with a system that resets/defaults to always on when the car is started is there for the driver's safety and in some ways absolve toyota/Subaru from fault as the driver has to make a conscious effort to turn the system off.

it is pretty obvious when you see the TC/VSC lights come up next to the tach so bad example or not, you're pandering to the PC/snowflake generation...regardless, holding the TC button doesn't completely turn off your nannies anyways. At the end of the day, the driver still has to initiate shutting it off..the fact that there are cars out there that allow some settings to be retained after a vehicle is restarted should be evidence enough. If I forgot I left my stick in a gear when I start my car up and if that caused me to crash, can I sue Toyota for not making it "more" obvious?

Car won't start without pressing clutch, whether it's in gear or not.

They need all the nannies to achieve the 5 star safety rating, be it ANCAP, Euro NCAP or NHTSA.

In the end it's easy enough to defeat the nannies if you want.

Some niche manufacturer will drop safety ratings, because it isnt going to effect the sales.

Look at the Jeep Wrangler and Ford Mustang for cars that score poorly, hell, the Jeep scores a 1.

Same for super cheap budget cars, the Fiat Panda scores a big far 0.

The twins are a budget sports car with a 5 star rating, mums and dads are happy to buy one for their kids, if they weren't 5 star, they wouldn't sell as many.

Big kids, me included, can just take that couple of seconds to set up their car, In the knowledge that when the kids borrow it, it has reset and all the safety features are enabled.

Disabling safety features is a real first world problem.

I love the clock, it's part of the charm lol..... my dad's 92 corolla has exactly same clock. Reminds me all the time i had to be sitting in the back as a kid.......:)

I have an interesting problem with reading the clock when wearing my sunglasses. I have Polarized clip-ons for my eye glasses. When I look at the clock I can only see the top half of the numbers. If I tilt my head to the right I can't see any numbers. But if I tilt my head to the left, (or take off my sun glasses) I can read the numbers fine.
I've known from an early age that if you tilt polarized glasses one way they get darker and the other way they'll get lighter. Never had this issue with any other digital or analog instrument before though.

I love the interior as is! If I could add anything it would be more carbon fiber touches! (Steering wheel, trim pieces, etc..).

The tS recaros the west never saw.
