Another one that always made me wait for "the rest of the story" went like this...

I call a phone number for a household and ask to speak with a certain person ... "Hello, may I please speak with Gertrude Shnizzlefritz?"

The person responds, "This is." That's it... not "This is Gertrude," or even "speaking," just "this is." THIS IS WHAT?!?!! WHO?!?!?! Maybe it's a northeast USA thing...

Whilst your thread's title initially drew me in, I'm wondering if you would consider effecting a change to your header? section - (avatar/posts/thanks/thanked, etcetera - unsure of the correct nomer) that would enable it to align with the de rigueur format of virtually all others.

It could be as simple as shrinking the 'skype' line - I'm honestly not sure.

But, not having to jack my head to the right to read your musings in a needlessly constricted column would be a blessin'.

As well, it would lessen the vertical screen real estate required by your musings, which would reduce unnecessary scrolling . . .

I don't have a smart phone or a tablet, so all my internet stuff is done on a laptop. On that machine, using Firefox, I don't see any difference in column width between my avatar section and others; I've attached screen shots of yours and mine for the sake of comparison. At your request, I've removed the Skype line... I'm here to help! lol

We're just having some fun. I strongly live by the quote "A person who is nice to you but rude to the waiter is not a nice person." I've worked in face-to-face service of one form or another for most of my life.

Truth be told it goes both ways. There are plenty of dismissive assholes on the other side of the counter. This is the main reason none of my vehicles or appliances will ever be touched by a "professional."

For the last 10 years I've had one foot in IT and the other in product design. IT is positively the worst culture in terms of being dismissive to the "ignorant masses" it serves.

I always liken it to looking in a mirror as whatever behaviour you express is usually reflected back.. as for IT, I don't know how to say it but agree with you.
