With your dollar as high as it is I can't understand why you're paying more.

Here's our spec sheet. You can see it is the full aero kit for $1,600.

The TRD kit is more.

It is all about market.....

Nafe 07-10-2012 05:36 AM

It's all about profiteering on TMCAs part....

000 Racing 07-10-2012 07:16 AM

Well I still need the rear wing in white... might have to buy one from NZ .. I mean WTF?? If I do I will be offloading the side skirts and front spoiler.. stand by.. inquiries with NZ this week..

Seeing as profiteering is when you make money using unethical means, I think this claim is slight over the top.

Suffa 07-10-2012 09:18 AM

I'll keep an eye out on gold coast and see if I spot you. Won't be hard with that wing ;)

GC GTS Aero Kit 07-10-2012 09:18 AM

Just the cost they came up with its quite simple if you don't like it don't buy it lol

Double the price as NZ when our dollar is considerably Stronger?? And you think the term profiteering is over the top?? I can't think of any other term to describe it.
Note I said TMCA. Nothing about dealers ;)

Ne0 07-10-2012 11:36 PM

profiteering has nothing to do with "using unethical means". It is simply making excessive profits on goods in short supply. This is more like market collusion.

m0nty 07-10-2012 11:48 PM

Damned if they do. Damned if they don't. We do all remember how we felt when we saw the price point of $29,990, don't we?

At $43,000 with aero package the car is still amazing value. I'd rather it costs $3,000 on to for the option than the car be $1,500 more with $1,500 for the option.

Which equates to 28,516.68 AUD ;)

mikedsilva 07-11-2012 04:36 AM

Where would you rather live?? Sometimes we do pay a premium to live in Aus... I think it is worth it so I pay it.

That bit somewhat goes against your defence of the price of the aero kit....
because "ripping blind for the same shit", in your words, is what TMCA are doing with the aero kit.

@mikedsilva .... Sure... we pay a premium for some things, yes, but there is no reason to pay double for a bodykit.... You think it is worth paying double for?

Wasn't that hard to work out if you read the posts... But you're forgiven! :bellyroll:

Nafe 07-11-2012 05:42 AM

Oh I read your post. Nowhere did you state that was in AUD. One would assume you mean NZD given that you were referring to the price in New Zealand.

I agree with you on the kit price, don't worry about that!

I'd rather pay cheaper for the car though, don't want the kit lol!

when it comes to stuff like that, you need to remember that we have a pretty decent way of life here in australia. while i don't agree with harvey norman and his bitching most times, he still needs to pay his staff so THEY can have a decent way of life...

I got back from a 7 night stay in thailand, while it was cool to get a billabong tshirt for $5, ray ban aviators for $3, thailand is a fucking ghetto. australia isn't.

That's BS and you know it. Rear tyres for my Lexus IS-F cost over $900 here, $300 from the states. Same tyre from Japan..... No counterfeit knock offs, the same fcuking tyre. That's just one random example....

it might not work in all cases, however I'm sure our minimum wage over here is leaps and bounds ahead of over in the states. and healthcare.

i get pissed off too with some things, but I'm sure its made up for elsewhere. in some cases at least

225/40/18 re050 - absolute minimum I can do it for is $651ea fitted. That's a shitload less than my RRP which is $823ea, which is lower than the retail price.
255/35/19 re050 - I can do for absolute minimum of $682ea fitted. My RRP for that is $864ea
there is an RE002 in the 255/35/19 which is as good, if not better. and cheaper. RRP $786. I can do absolute minimum of $621.00ea on these

GC GTS Aero Kit 07-11-2012 08:50 AM

Just ordered 265/35 R18 Federal RS-R Semi Slicks for $280 a tyre :)

That's cheap as for Australia! But I'll give it a miss thanks.

Nafe 07-11-2012 09:07 AM

Fuck, the 255 is wrong. I accidentally hit 235. my apologies. the 255 is $743 minimum and $943.70 RRP. No re002 :/
My Bad
but yes, VERY cheap for Australia, but still expensive compared to overseas.
I will be getting myself RE002's for my 86 :)

Nice. I was going to get these for a car I had a while ago. I don't think I need semi slicks on this car though :)

Very nice price! They retail for about $170 in the states, add about $350 for shipping, and that's very close!

The RS-Rs are NOT actually 'semi-slicks'. They're comparable to other UHP street tyres such as the Proxes R1R, AD08 etc. Also, the fact that they work well in the wet tells you this too. Don't know why anyone would buy a car like this and put big sticky tyres on it though...:bonk:
