IMHO the white color shows off the lines of the car the best .....

I know there was some speculation about the white. As far as I can tell, the 86 "Halo" is the same as the '13 "Whiteout". Dealer said there have been some improvements to the paint as well. Time will tell.

Oh yes, the "improvement" was changing the name from "whiteout" ......

I still think that is an unattractive name for a paint color ..... :barf:

Maybe but nothing is as sexy as this car. I love the car because reminds me of yesteryears sports cars. Also I don't think I'll find anything that handles like my FRS, still though they should boost it to at least 250. I thought about a 370 but from the videos I am not impressed so that leaves me with corvette, cayman or mustang. I have to have a performance car in the stable as I've had for 16 years. I could ride out my extended waranty, order a new engine have it built and boosted, but then who knows what will change by then

Sort of like going into a bar at night and announcing that you are the toughest guy in the bar ....... no matter how good of shape you're in ..... there is a good chance that there is someone in there will beat the hell out of you ..... :eyebulge:

Lol Halo is Halo whiteout is whiteout, the car hasn't been SWP (whiteout) Since 2014,It's CWP (Halo)from 2015 no changes, don't let them fool you around just because the name changed. There's not even that much changes from CWP and SWP cleaner white less creamy more flakes that's it. Don't believe me? Check your paint code.

Goodness things they would tell you just to make a sale :/

I'm no auto paint expert, but it looks better, and the clearcoat seems thicker. Don't care either way, though.

I had a '13, so I know what Whiteout is. Halo does seem to have more flakes. The state of the paint was mentioned in passing, not as a selling point. They have also seemd to fix the slight color miss-match from metal to plastic. Not all cars had that, but mine did.

I'm starting to regret posting about my new car. The dealer had nothing to do with the "sale", other than being the money-changer and paper-pusher. I walked in and said "manual, white, lower payment" and talked cars and Top Gear with my "salesman" for a while. The only "work" he had to do walk to the printer.

I don't know what video I was watching, (maybe someone else knows the video im referring to) but someone affiliated with subaru claims the power gain is more of the magnitude of 15-20whp and the 5hp claim is just the advertised gain. They supposedly brought the real world numbers closer to spec.

Edit - Apparently I got this idea from this video [ame="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CcAw3apQwQM"]Moto San's impression on the 2017 Series.Yellow BRZ - YouTube[/ame]

around the 1:20 mark. I'm not familiar with the person speaking so I don't know how much weight this holds.. anyone else want to chime in?

Yeah, I think the five HP claim is low.

Sorry if I offended you in your transaction for your car. Congratulations, enjoy.

Congrats on the 2017 purchase now go get that new car a ceramic coating. Find a good detail shop and get Optimum Opticoat ceramic coating. Gloss Coat is the newest ceramic coating or get Opticoat Pro. Better yet get a clear bra done before Opticoat. Opticoat best damn $400.00 I spent on my car. You'll see those nice flakes on your car and washing the car will be so much easier. Just my 2 cents! ;) Oh and buy a nice sounding exhaust. You're in Oregon so Perrin would be a good choice!

funwheeldrive 09-13-2016 01:23 PM

Have any MY17 owners taken their car on the dyno yet?

RichardsFRS 09-13-2016 01:51 PM

20HP is a more suitable number than 5. I wouldn't even advertise 5hp.
Whats the point in the scalloped bumper? It would look way better if those weren't there and it just flowed straight across

Aggression, man! I've got 215(?) HP, I must have a mean face. It's stupid, bit I can't see it from inside. I may address that later.

Opinion seemed to favor the new front. It's nice in profile, that's about it.

deejaylew 09-13-2016 04:18 PM

I like the 86 front more than the FR-S.

Am I alone?

No, pro's outnumbered cons in the "new" thread, at least they did the last time I looked.

jonnyboi 09-13-2016 08:46 PM

Congrats on your purchase! So, the million dollar question...did Subaru/Toyota decide to leave out the crickets for the new model year/generation???

Mr. Kurtz 09-13-2016 09:52 PM

Silent, so far. If they do appear, I won't care.

How does the steering feel compared to your 2013? Is it more numb?

The feel is still there, just a small step removed from the FR-S. I read they have changed the rates for straight line stability. It does feel a bit different, but not in any major way. Need someone who races to try one.
