It is, without question, the most fun and best looking car I've owned...reliability will be a factor...but I'll have it for at least 2 years...probably 3 or 4...by then it will have between 100-120k on it...if its still humming along then it may be longer...or I'll give it to my daughter when she graduates college.
My wife an I have been looking for reasons to take it out...today we went on a Home Depot run for flowers and Target for stuff...she was like "do you want to put flowers in it?"...ya if they fit...if not we're not getting them :)

i bought this with passion in mind. i will keep this car after its paid off and after the motor has blown. i will keep replacing the engine and tranny until the frame turns to dust. there will only be side projects while i own this thing. other than that, this is my car.

I will always own my FR-S. The car instantly reminded me of my 91 Prelude (which was the first car I fell in love with, pure joy it was). I already have the same feeling with the FR-S, can't stop driving it, and when i'm not driving it, I just stand at the window and stare at it. The car is just dead sexy.

^ that is awesome. i bought this car to avenge my 84 and 85 supra and my 93 turbo mr2. they were all red. i had to keep the fire going.

All 5 cars I've had were cars I originally planned on keeping for the long haul, but ended up trading in. I'm saying the same thing about the BRZ, but I have a feeling it will actually happen this time.

I didn't get the 6 year/100k extended warranty for nothing.... ;)

I'm very excited about the responses here, thanks for posting up your thoughts!

I said it in my OP and I was explaining to my friends yesterday how when you get a new car you always want a sense of upgrading right? I don't see myself being able to truly upgrade in the characteristics of the car that are important to me without getting into the 50-60k territory. And then I have to question myself if I'm actually going to utilize all that extra power/handling ability. I see no reason for getting a Cayman for example, as a daily driver if it never gets driven to at least 75% of its capabilities on a routine basis like my car does.

With that said, by the time I feel I'm good enough of a driver to drive a Cayman like I drive my BRZ I should be able to add one to the stable as a daily driver and make the BRZ my fun weekend car. I think the Cayman wouldn't stick around too long in my driveway though.

I don't own an FR-S or BRZ yet, but after testing the FR-S I felt it could easily keep me happy for many, many years as a second car. The presumed reliability and durability combined with reasonable repair costs are huge advantages over, say, a used Porsche or BMW. The fuel economy is a plus for long-term ownership too. With such a great driver's car around, I won't be tempted to spend for something like a 335i or S4 as a daily driver/family hauler. I'll just keep my TSX around as long as possible.
