Evo x/end thread. New mistubishis are just as reliable as most other cars. Used ones just happen to be beaten to shit more often than not giving them a bad rep.

xFury 01-24-2016 09:21 PM

Since you both wanted a Evo, I say EVO. 4 door and good amount of power and AWD. Rather have one that I wanted then regret not getting it. Also congrats on the addition!

I don't want to be that guy, but this is a prime example of the importance between using "then" or "than" correctly lol.

I love the Evo's. Always have. Always will. The biggest thing for me is that I just couldn't justify the price for what it offered. It's a fun car, but no folding rear seats, all plastic interior that never stops rattling, and running 4k RPMs at 75mph on the freeway (in the 5spd GSR) made me opt against it. Plus, the 15MY doesn't even have Recaros anymore:brokenheart:

Out of those three options, I'd have to lean towards the SS side, simply because I personally feel like it offers more for the money as an all around car.

But, I also agree with what was previously said: Take all three for a good test drive and see how well it would fit with your wants and needs from a new vehicle.

Best of luck!

Don't get the MR. Get the GSR. The manual in the GSR is stronger then the MR.

Yep, that's when you put the back seat down, open up the trunk and stick them into "pa-pa's hatchback", where they have their very own skylight ........ :D

(just kidding - don't turn me into CPS)

Why not ;). Its part of how I get back at my lovely wife for her..eh hem, nagging...that she currently gets a free pass on.

Plus it helps calibrate the kiddo to know what is good for him/her.......a passionate car hobby!!

Damn, normally I do know how to use it except for this one lol good catch!

I do agree on the test drive also, don't do it just once or twice. Drive all 3 as much as you can to get the feel of it after a while.

Well, now, @NahumCC ....... let me share this piece of advice about that.

After 50 years of marriage (to two different women), I learned that this phrase works best:

"Yes, dear, you are absolutely right ...... I'm an ass hole"

(in a medium voice, with puppy dog eyes and head slightly lowered)

Then, DO NOT walk away ....... because she will feel she is not done with you ..... but, after she realizes what you just said ...... she will stop.

illmatic_frs 01-25-2016 02:18 AM

The 3 options are in completely different classes. So I'd say u have to decide what your priorities are..

As a father of 2 my suggestion is a car that is higher off the ground, so u save your lower back.

We had an 09 civic sedan with my first kid and BOTH of hurt our backs with all of the in/out while twisting. Despite being someheatcfit, we each slipped a lumbar disc. We manage now but for the 2nd kid we got an SUV.

So what do you want?
Performance
Handling
Creature comforts (dual zone climate, heated seats, power options etc.)
Gas mileage?

Somewhere u have to pick and prioritize what you want, that will guide your decision.

We ended up going with a loaded Santa fe cause we wanted all the creature comforts, 3rd row for future expansion, awd, decent power and of course lumbar support :-) what I sacrificed was handling and gas mileage. And no street cred lol

Haha, I do that and it doesn't work yet after being together 10 years (married 6 in april out of the 10)...........Haze Gray and underway is the only way out at that point and my present duty station doesn't permit that.

All the same I love her.

The child comes first man, use your discount for a personal preference within the options the discount will cover. Kids don't come cheap.

You have a kid on the way, this isn't about you anymore.

kevman_101 01-25-2016 08:47 AM

Is the FRS the only car? If so, yeah, you are going to need to get rid of it. If not, change the other car :). I'm the baby carrier with the FRS :). I take her to daycare every morning and pick her up at night. It works great, but their is no room for a passenger with a rear facing seat.

Discretion is the better part of valour!

You fucked up son

86Hiro 01-25-2016 01:26 PM

Well the FRS is her car, I am getting another SRT4. She now wants to trade it in for a 2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee. I'm trying convincing her to get the SRT model haha. The dealer I work for has also a Jeep/Chrysler/Dodge, a Toyota/Scion, Nissan, KIA and a Maserati dealership...So it kind of plays in my favor anyways

These are actually very nice and can be bought on the used market extremely reasonably. On my eventual daily driver short list.

RichardsFRS 01-25-2016 02:06 PM

Jeep is comming out with a hell cat. That'd be plenty fast and roomy

Yeah, there's a GM volume dealer near me that always has extremely reasonable internet prices on them. If I develop actual responsibilities in the next 5 years or so, it's certainly on the short list.

The time has come : (

I never did update this thread, but I traded her FRS in and got her a 15' VW GLi w/DSG transmission. Since the day we went to see it, she couldn't stop talking about it and how much she loved it. Its a 2 Liter Turbocharged 4-dr. So she ended up getting what she wanted and its fully loaded with everything you could've added to it. First thing she HAD to have done was get the windows tinted.

Before tint was applied:

Congrats - glad to hear you're keeping your pregnant wife happy! Also looks like VW updated the styling on the front of the Jetta (single red strip on the bottom) to match the new GTI.

The interior and exterior look quite nice, seems like a really good family sedan. Hopefully, you may revisit the FR-S in the future.

Its a possibility, but it wont be Scion if I ever revisit. It'll a Yota since Scion went under lol

Hotrodheart 04-04-2016 01:16 AM

Ket the fiancée and the kid drive themselves...........keep the FR-S.

As long as Toyota keeps the 86. No longer, no shorter. and that is anybody's guess (except for a few at Toyota I would think but they are no going to tell)

Jfheisenberg 04-04-2016 09:49 AM

I think you need something safe and reliable. IMO is Subaru WRX or STI ( thats what i would get)

Bowen 04-04-2016 05:11 PM

I think you made a great choice OP, I do love the newer Volkswagon's :D

Do you ever see yourself in another 86?

RichardsFRS 04-04-2016 05:21 PM

But did you end up with what you wanted? I'd kept the FRS and made some other compromise.
