I just found a different thread on final drive and looks like the 4.88s might be something I am interested in.
I want to drive one before I actually do it Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
"Never throw good money after bad!"
I.e. if you are not happy with the AT, stop spending more money on it. If you e.g. go forced induction, it would still bother you that it isn't a manual. Pull out the mods you did already. How hard can it be to pull off some wheel, change exhaust and take a stereo out? You car may have lost value since you bought it, but so has comparable manuals of similar age and mileage. I.e. you should be able to do it without a loss. |

Now, stop thinking about a swap ....... :slap: ;) humfrz |
Is the car in good shape? You can probably trade it for a MT and not lose any money if at all. I bought my 2013MT for a little over 15 with 43k on it. I can out right sell it and make money I'm pretty sure, but I'm having a lot of fun in my little car, so I don't see that happening
Also about the parts, take them off and replace with stock then trade, put parts on new MT car, best of both worlds. I don't think you will be happy now with anything but a MT car because its in your head now |
I understand swap is super hard in these, not like an old Honda where you just change the shifter and add the clutch cylinder. I'm pretty handy with stuff but I would not try it. Return to stock, get a manual, put the parts you bought on it. Probably be able to trade auto for manual with little loss

Do you use the paddles 95% of the time? I just can't seem to understand what is so great about the manual vs the auto? The only issue I have with mines is I wish I had a 4.88 or 5.29 FD so I could always be more in the powerband and the FD makes the auto move more rapid-like like a DCT IMHO.

Theres no point in swapping, not going to be cost effective. I'd say put it back to stock and just trade then put your aftermarket goodies on your new manual:)

Ironic you dont like the auto/prefer the manual when you say you wanted to go turbo and the manual is more fragile than the auto in this case...
|
you could try finding someone that wants the AT version, I'm sure there's bound to be someone that is sick of driving their manual FRS/BRZ in traffic or something lol. Then it'd be a simple trade, and the AT costs 1k more than the manual if identical in most ways (mileage)
