how would they even install the CF roof securely? don't they have to spot weld the roof on? I don't think you can do that with CF lol

Body shop uses special glue to glue the roof and chassis together. Same concept as BMW M series & other sports cars with cf roof ;)

So the roof in our cars isn't actually a stressed member of the chassis like other sports cars? It's that metal part that runs down the center in between the two humps?

It help a bit, but roof isn't doing anything other than covering you (& airflow). Major sports car nowdays worry bout bottom chassis stiffness than the roof... but that doesn't mean it's okay to cut the roof to make a vert. lol

yah people were telling me about replacing it with CF roof. but OEM is $350 while CF roof is $1700... provided they don't break your windshield, the entire job was $3800 with OEM roof.

Think of it this way.

Going from just purely on the price of the part, it's a 385% price increase, but with the cost of the job factored in, you can get a sick ass CF roof for a small increase of only 35%!

But yeah, that really sucks that it ends up costing so much just due to the nature of the repair.

Ever change a roof skin? There are really valid reasons why they cost so much in labour.

the major stress bearing structure is the 3 horizontal and 1 vertical brace you see in the video/pic. The roof panel itself is responsible to protect you from the elements and aerodynamics, albeit a tiny bit of rigidity support.

I got rattles exactly in this part, the white horizontal frame,
The dealer pinpoint it and tried fix it by loosing something, the noise changed from low frequency, high volume -------->to high frequency low volume.

How shall I repair it ?

Some workers have the ability to "suck" the dent up, and make it likes nothing happens, without handling the paint.
Not perfect but very cheap.

You could of been the first to have a convertible. God gave you a sign and you threw that away. smh lol jk good luck with the repairs, i know mines after the insurance wasn't the best and im still finding imperfections that the shop skimped around with.
