I've had my set for a year, just checked and did not see any sort of damage/defect.
FWIW they are the TM-81500-TZN60-US model. Not sure if there is a correlation between the different models available, but figured I would throw it out there. |

I would put a a good quality vinyl wrap if you end up having to keep these. I did a carbon fiber look 3M 1080 application over just the top of the light. Should eliminate the light bleeding through there. I did it to calm down the chrome look on the stock light.

The option that was given to me was to keep the lights since its not noticeable or partial refund.
I took the first option and i thought about covering it with a vinyl. The lights was returned to me but unfortunate that the other light was damage on transit. I guess I'll be getting a new set after all. But it shits me that they wont replace it if it's a manufacturer defect. |

The light is melting, thats not normal or acceptable. DON'T KEEP THEM ON THE CAR! This is a fire risk, not just something to cover up with a vinyl wrap! :mad0260: |
Well, dammit. I just went and looked at mine again, and the gap IS there on both sides. I missed it earlier because it's so small that it's nearly impossible to see until you turn the lights on. So maybe this is a common manufacturing issue.
Mine is small enough that I think I can choose not to worry about it. |
To think I was about to buy some TOMS lights. This just made me decide to go with Valentis now.

I noticed this on mine as well a few months ago and contacted fteightsix about it.
http://i.imgur.com/MpRyzsH.jpg for warranty problems I was told to contact Albert by email at albert@buddyclub.us. He sent me a replacement for my tail light but the fitment of it was HORRIBLE so I ended up removing it. It's still sitting in my closet. I won't be buying these again... |
Just checked mine. They didn't have this issue luckily.
mine are the all red ones |

Hello as one of the larger Toms sellers in the states I would like to ad some honest feedback. I will admit we have seen this a few times - nothing to be alarmed about I would say out of 200 units it is seen on maybe 1 every so often. agian it has been very very minor. Im wondering if you bought these stateside or in AUS. In the USA we are not "supposed" to ship Toms outside the US. TOMS lights are manufactured by Depo a high quality OE supplier and MFG - Most everyone already knows this They also Manufacture 2-3 other taillight that are in our market for FRS. The US warranty procedure for TOMS and Buddy Club is... -Call AAI Motorsports and talk to Albert - They would like to deal with all warranties in house and can assist anyone that purchases these from an authorized direct dealer of the Toms products. We are one of a handful of authorized dealers. If any of our customers have problems and are within the warranty from them you will simply need to call or email them and have a proof of purchase and they will get you handled (we never had anyone call back with an issue after they know how to get it handled) - We always advise any of our customers if they run into a roadblock or feel they are not getting the customer service they expect to please call us back so we can assist if needed. Now if you purchased your product in another country they might have a different procedure. This is why it is important to not buy from sources that are not authorized direct dealers - Thanks |
Haven't noticed this on my clear Tom's - hope OP gets everything sorted out.

I recall seeing a picture of some guys' Buddy Club tails having similar problem, except it looked a little worse actually. Must be a production issue at Depo...
|
JDM all-red TOM's owner here chiming in to say quality and fitment are 100%.. perhaps this is only a clear issue?

An auto body guy I know said they order Depo knock-offs for the cars they repair and frequently have to send them back for quality issues. The insurance companies are willing to accept them as "OE equivalent," but they're not. |
