So you got pulled over for no reason in other words?

When I'm worried about bothering the neighbors (cold starts before 7am) I simply start the car, and then IMMEDIATELY idle out the driveway and down the road. I barely have to touch the throttle, and within 10-15 seconds I'm far away from any neighbors that might be bothered.

Even with a Perrin resonated exhaust (one of the quieter catbacks), my car is obnoxious on cold startup.

The full setup is UEL catless header, OP, catted/resonated FP, Perrin resonated CBE.

I don't want to annoy my neighbors, so I literally start with the shifter in reverse and let the clutch out as soon as the engine fires. Any load on the engine quiets it down, but it's probably still 1-2 seconds of roar when I first start up.

My advice would be to get the quietest exhaust possible (maybe Q300) or go back to stock CBE. It's not worth annoying your neighbors and/or dealing with the cops.

Q300 or Perrin 2.5 resonated, in my opinion. Also, what did the cop even tell you if there are no noise restriction laws in your locality? Are you able to find out who was complaining about it and maybe make some amends with them to let them know you're not the asshole neighbor they think you are?

I'm going to go to the two neighbors on each side of me tonight and talk to them. It had to be one of them if it was shaking their windows. The cop just said they keep calling them and his boss asked him to just come out and talk to me. The cop actually seemed like he felt bad about it.

I just hope by replacing the catback it will be loud enough. Thanks for all the input though everyone.

You know those &%@#$ Harley riders who try to rev their engines as loud as they can driving though residential neighborhoods? They bought the Harley and ride it that way because they want to be noticed. Your neighbor probably thought you bought your exhaust because you wanted to be noticed.

That's whatever I think when I hear someone with an obnoxiously loud exhaust.

Yeah, but it's just the cold start mainly. It's not like I'm reving the engine or flooring it down my street.

Actually my girlfriend got pulled over for no reason. They were casing the house until they saw one of our cars leave as they didn't know which car it was. They were confused when they pulled her over since her 2014 corolla isn't very loud lol. Asked her if the red car was a roommates or boyfriend and she said yes, they then asked if I had a really loud sound system or something, she said no, but knew what they neighbor was complaining about. After that they came back to my house and asked to talk to me.

That's what's worrying me...I don't want to buy a whole new catback and it still be really loud. I try to leave but it's the initial start up that shakes the house.

I can assure you the cold start on the Q300 isn't near as loud as any exhaust out there. I can't hear my car from my own place anymore on cold start. I highly doubt your neighbors will complain if you had that on. They definitely won't feel their windows shake.

I forgot where I saw it but some guy covered his tips with some material so it would kill the noise when he had to cold start. Once it warmed up, he removed it and drove off

I commend you on trying to be a good neighbor (and a better neighbor than your neighbor who wasn't open and forward with you)...

Since you're trying to actually fix the noise issue I suggest having a bit of fun with your neighbor! I'd send a note telling them that you're in the process of trying to correct the noise issue and that you weren't trying to "shake" things up and present them with a box of these for the "inconvenience."

Agree, don't stress it or over think it. I'm fully catless from the motor back and it's not loud(compared to others) the bass(drone) on other systems is what causes that window vibration the q300 doesn't have that.

Go back to stock catback (aftermarket ones have little to no gains), attach JDM exhaust tips. Keep the header and FP/OP for the gains. Problem solved, little to no money spent if you resell your current CBE.

Like maybe, buy an inexpensive glass packed muffler, cut it in half, slide each half on each tail pipe ..... remove after cold startup or after you're out of the neighborhood ..... :iono:

Hey everyone I have a Borla UEL header, Manzo catless frontpipe/overpipe combo, and a Manzo V2 exhaust (GReddy Evo 3 replica). I had the cold start high idle tuned out as well (thanks to @Foobar!). I got pulled over while leaving the house by an officer who had been waiting for me to leave the house. Apparently one of my neighbors has been calling his boss daily for two weeks. The cop was really cool and my city has no noise laws, however, I don't want to be that asshole neighbor. I am a pissed however that my neighbor didn't approach my girlfriend or I first however.

Anyway I was wondering on how to quiet the car down the most while still keeping as much gains as possible. I was debating on doing one of the following options and am looking for advice:

1) put the factory catted front pipe back on
2) Pick up an aftermarket high flow catted front pipe
3) Replace the Evo 3 Replica with a more quiet exhaust such as the Q300.

So, which do you think would be best?

No noise law.. Straight pipe, because Murica.
