Everything I've owned until the BRZ had a hatch (240, 10 hondas, Mini Cooper S, Corolla FX16). The looks of the 5 door hatch just never did it for me so I passed on the ST.

So...I looked around for spy shots and the like and it looks like the RS will probably be a 5 door here in the states. No thanks. :brokenheart:

Yea, I love 3 door hatches as well. If they sold the 3 door Fiesta ST here, I would own one.

I always thought Road&Track was pretty credible:iono:

That doesn't necessarily mean it'll only be used on this car. My guess is that they are going to use this on all their performance oriented cars, because they said Fords current AWD system isn't designed for high performance applications, which is why they would have to develop a new AWD system for the RS.

Have you seen the ridiculous sticker prices on domestics in general? I'd believe it...

I loved the practicality of my old STI hatch. Too bad Subaru's out of the market now.

Hope Ford develops this and fills the void. I imagine this will be more raw and fun to drive than the Golf R.

Not really. You can buy a Focus ST for $22k.

Nothing beats STI in the price range vs performance.
I respectfully disagree. A Mustang GT will destroy it. Ditto a Mustang V6 or Ecoboost with the track pack.

The Focus platform and the Escape platform are the same platform. In other words, it's no problem fitting an AWD drivetrain to a high performance Focus model.:party0030:

Ya, there is that, but after you almost kill yourself the first time it is a blast.
We had it out back in August and did a few runs at a closed drag strip and that thing flies. Not worth a crap if you wanted to track it though I am sure.
I think the city cops have a cruiser assigned just to him from April to September every year!

Until an AWD version coming to the U.S. is officially confirmed by Ford, I'm not going to hold my breath. However, if Ford does bring an AWD Focus RS it is one car that I'd definitely consider selling the FR-S for.

Even if it is AWD, it will be having a hard time against the STI

-Tom- 12-17-2014 09:16 PM

The Mk1 and the Mk2 were both limited runs (they made so many Mk2s you could barely call it 'limited run' mind). It will be interesting how the US receives it if it makes it over there, but as before the largest allocation will be to the UK. As an owner of several hatches before my '86 (some of which were over 300bhp, perish the thought!) I'm looking forward to seeing what they do with this!
