I hear the same thing, a whine. I was worried on my way back from formula d.
|
I hear the noise in mine as well. Approx. 72 mph it makes a harmonic frequency that resonates. changes with throttle. No idea what causes it but I've heard it for about a month now. I always thought "Whine" described it. Heard it could be the diff before, but never thought anything of it. just got used to it since my g/f Toyota does the same thing.
|
Probably the rear diff. Sometimes at certain speeds and light throttle loads the sound can be induced.
Unless it gets worse really quickly, I wouldn't worry too much. |
I've noticed something in my car as well. Usually at any cruising speed not under load or acceleration. But I feel like i hear it towards the front, around the transmission area.
Solution: turn my music back on and stop listening for noises. |
You guys can all start a band together!

Perhaps a sound clip would have produced more useful replies.

To those who have this "singing" noise, do you have a trd intake as well? I've had this noise for a while now and it gets annoying sometimes. It's a high-pitched noise that appears under light throttle at highway speeds even on cruise control.

Mine does it as well although I feel like it's more toward the trans... Oh well, power train warranty.
|
I uploaded a video in hopes someone can identify the cause and a fix.
[ame="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JRJZx4xRSkE"]"Singing Noise" in BRZ - YouTube[/ame] I let off the throttle here and there to turn it off and on. |
Does anyone have this whining and not have a trd intake??
What about a non-stock tran/rear diff fluid? I'm wondering if it might be the hpfp. It's pretty noticeable once you hear it, comes on around 70mph light throttle. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
This noise is aggravating but not an issue. I know mine has done it since day one and I now have 37k miles and it's still doing it. I chalked it up to the car not liking 70mph so I run 72. Easiest fix EVER!!! You can hear it at 35mph as well if you listen close, leads me to believe it would blow your eardrums at 140mph :)

i can't seem to hear anything where in the video am i suppose to listen closely?
|
You might need to raise the volume a bit you can hear it throughout the entire video. It turns off at times when I let off the throttle.
