Thanks for the post and congrats. What was your impression of the car?

How do you recommend cleaning the engine? Do you have specific products you use? I've been warned about spraying it down if the engine is hot, but I'm curious how you (a detailer) do it.

I always perform work on the motors when they are either cold or slightly warm after being ran for no more than I'd say 5 or 10 minutes. Various degreasers/ products will haze, dry or even stain when applied on heated surfaces.

Megs APC in various dilutions can do wonders- I generally wet down the motor slightly- apply degreaser, let sit for 3 to 5 minutes....shorter if engine is warm, agitate with a brush and rinse. I've NEVER had one problem with electronics or getting water into the intake etc.- take your time, keep the water pressure low and pay attention. After wards I will take my leaf blower and blow dry the motor for a solid 5 minutes- follow up with some air from a compressor on and around the connection from around 6 inches away- allow to dry for 15 to 30 minutes- I've done close to 75 cars this way and never had a problem. Most electronic connections inside the motor area are sealed and contain a water resistant/ rubber gasket of some sort.

If you are worried or want to take caution....go right ahead! Grab some heavy duty saran wrap and foil- saran wrap all connections/ areas of caution, then wrap the same area in the heavy duty foil!
Hope this helps,
Dan K.

Did you use the 303 on the interior/mustache/rear bumper plastics too? I love the stuff but I am curious to see its effects on the varying plastics, especially in the cabin.

Yes! 303 was applied in this case to all trim- exterior and under the hood- as well as the door/ trunk seals. I do not like 303 on interior panels- some people do however. I find that Einzeit (1Z) cokpit premium looks far better! Its according to taste!

Unfortunately I don't think many people got to enjoy the interior during that show, apparently on the first day someone ripped one of the seats open and Subaru kept it locked up after that.

I see your location is listed all over. Where is your business central to?

My business is centrally located in Bergen County NJ (northern NJ) however I take care of a collection in Greenwich CT, service clients while at school in VA (northern for the most part), NY and I also have a handful of clients in central NJ. I see around 60 clients during the summer and around 25 during the fall and winter months! I also bounce back and forth between VA and the north over the summer- my business is building in VA!
Thank you for looking!

Does Einzeit leave a more natural finish for the interior plastics? I can't stand the Armor All wet look on anything other than the tires... I just want something that cleans and protects, and doesn't leave a greasy finish.
