Usually it's because of the visible squished brains. When they don't release names it's that they have not been able to track down the family and would rather not have them find out on Facebook.

RIP...:(

That FR-S/BRZ looks to have emergency tires on both left and right rear.

I think it looks too flat/wide to be a spare. Either way, you NEVER put a spare tire on your drive wheels if you can avoid it.

RIP to both drivers.

It's a spare, it's got the yellow warning sticker telling you how dangerous it can be to drive on. I wouldn't jump the the conclusion they were racing it's possible, but it's also could be as simple as less than ideal conditions + being on a spare.

My condolences go out to the friends and family. Whatever the cause, dying wasn't deserved.

I was told never to put the spare on the drive wheels, in our case, the rear, cause it will confuse the differential or something like that.

RIP.... from the members in South Africa.

Someone suggested that they were running a spare on both back wheels. I was saying the other rear wheel doesn't look like a spare to me.

Mossyjaw 04-21-2014 12:24 AM

Just one spare. There is a different pic if you click the pics link halfway down the article.

this is correct. it is awful for the diff. your wheels will be spinning at 2 pretty different speeds because they are not the exact same size

Sad to read about this. Stay safe everyone.
