MH370 showing up on radar anywhere in the world will have jets scramble so damn fast. I doubt anybody is really in any danger that it will be used for bomb delivery.

Obviously, electrical fire is probably one of the most dangerous things that can happen in an aircraft. The reason I find fire unlikely - the pilots would of at least notified ATC of an electrical issue. It's not like a 777 can just go dark. It has multiple generators, an extremely complicated bus system, and a backup windmill generator to power vital systems. Also - if a fire engulfed the aircraft, do you really think it would of flown for 7 hours like we suspect? I'd say it's a safe bet it would of crashed very quickly, like others in the past. IMO - Transponder shutting off could be due to the pilots being in a hypoxic state and accidentally turning it off. Who knows tho, it's all shots in the dark until the black box is found. |

I'm not even remotely knowledgeable of the electrical system in a 777 but if they killed power in an adrenaline state but were not physically able to re-power systems could explain why it went dark in a very radar dark portion of the world. |

The Satilite footage they have shows no indication of fire on board,
The transponder was manually turned off, and at a point between two air spaces that it was both/neither of the countries problems. And flying out to that part of the ocean is how they determined the plane ended in that part of the ocean, because there was no landing strips reachable with the fuel they had in that time. That Chinese ship picked up another ping, just under 2km from the last. Officials are skeptical, but it's looking more and more like they found it. |
With the "evidence" of the plane turning from it's initial flight path and it's transponders being tuned off as well as flying to avoid different countries radars it would seem to be a logical conclusion that some form of foul play has occurred.
As far as any of the passengers using their mobile/cell phones I can see this could be easily overcome by telling the passengers and crew that the plane has had to return/divert for whatever reason so they didn't panic then depressurize the cabin, letting everyone fall asleep. I find it difficult to believe that not a single piece of wreckage has been found a month after the event. The longer it goes on the more likely it makes me feel that a "conspiracy theory" could be true and even if a black box is found it may have been placed after the fact to divert any attention. I read somewhere that the black box only records the last 2 hrs of voice and flight data so that may not hold as much information as I would like. It's all interesting regardless of the outcome. |

I think it's pretty obvious what happened.
