Lucky for him, the 2015 was introduced at NAIAS today:

The motor can't support anything beyond 2.2L from what HKS told us.
If you're waiting for the latest and greatest, you're going to keep waiting. If you weren't happy with what you had, you'll be in the same place as before but out thousands of dollars. But to each his own. |
So the WRX STI was just announced with a 2.5L motor today. What I'm wondering is, will it have the old EJ or an all new FA based motor? And if it is an all-new FA 2.5L, then that gives more credibility to the BRZ/FR-S getting one. Hmm...

Well obviously this is joke to most. Thanks anyway. If anyone else has any serious input, i'll highly appreciate it. To those who have no clue what im talking about refer to this thread. I didn't open this so anyone would comment on my personal life decisions, whether or not they're stupid. Some of us have the possibilities of trading in an e92 m3 for a scion FRS then 3 months later getting an STI then a '13 335is... as stated above you dont have to agree with my life's choices i simply asked you to let me know what you would do if you were able to. It is obvious that those who can't afford to will post what most of you posted above. Whether you like it or not the car will be refreshed on 2015 like the s2000, like the scion Tc and 335i bmw and so forth.
PS- I was happy with the car, hence the reason i want another one. I realized now, nothing drove like that car on the track, easy an inexpensive to modify and a lot more aftermarket parts now. |

Just like the new WRX has a FA 2.0l turbo. |
Trying to keep a car, thanks for the input though.

Hello Subaru and toyota,
please make the engine into a 2.5 liter size, and also increase the redline to 8,500 while you're at it. And put on koni struts as standard. Thanks, Dave |

I don't particularly care if you switch cars every 3 months. You sold your FRS, so get something else in the meanwhile. If they do refresh in 2015, and you want it, get a 2016 when they'll add kneepads in the new Release Series Alpha Scion Anniversary Gambit 2.3 |
@yomny, If there's indeed a new motor, you might have to wait for the aftermarket to figure out the best solutions to extract more power from it. The current motor is about to hit 2 years in the market pretty soon and parts are starting to prove themselves. If you wanna start modding right away, go with the current motor. The monogram series looks pretty good.

No ifs ands or buts about it, if there was an FA in there they'd be talking up the Direct Injection non-stop. Sounds like the 'new' STI is a stop gap model while they ramp up the new base WRX, once that gets settled in they'll implement an new STI based on that architecture. At least that's my interpretation of the news. With regards to the OP: there is zero credible sources that there will ever be a power increase for the Toyobaru. Buy one now (again) or move on, maybe come back around when used ones are cheap, but waiting for more factory power is a waste of time imho. Besides you had no problems flipping on a car you barely owned for a year, doesn't seem like you'd have many regrets in doing so again. |
