you must cut the green wire located on your headlight harness.

that looks right, I assume the white mark is the silver side of the diode which is the side you want facing your headlight.

Thanks for you confirmation! that's right!

so if you want to NOT have the LEDs light up when the headlights turn on is this what you add to the added power wire?

If you want to lower DRLs to turn off when the headlights are on than add a second diode to your source wire (white DRL wire) with the silver side of the diode attached to the headlight. This will allow current to travel from the DRL to head light but stop current from headlight to lower DRLs

^ I see, thanks.
had the diode the wrong way.

Subbed. I'll probably do this mod at some point once I get my BRZ back. Thanks for the awesome write up!

Sorry to clarrify

The red wire there is the wire from the DRL, the side that it is attached to, does that connect to the green wire from the head light harness , and the left side of the diode connect to the brown wire from the head light harness?

Sorry not really good with electrical stuff, really want to do this but a bit confused, if some one could do a basic ms paint of how to wire it up would be much appreciated.

You must cut green wire. The side with diode (_|) goes to green wire harness side.
The other side of cutted green wire must be wired to anode. From cathode (K) you reach white 12+ of DRL.

Alright I understand it now. Thanks for the clarification.

im seriously impressed you got that diode in there on the left side infront of the drivers seat.

there is almost no space there. i just added extensions to the green wire. even adding those extensions were a pain.

Thanks, I work on circuit boards all day so our engine bay is much larger than I'm used to. It did take me some time to be completely honest. How did your install go?

Like Trap said the diode gets placed into the green wire. The silver side of the diode facing your headlight while the black side facing your body harness. you have a 50/50 chance of getting it right so good luck! :thumbsup:

Cool. But can't ya just turn on the driving lights and have same effect? :P

I was going to ask this as well.

You could have just made it so the DRLs stayed on with the headlights without worrying about the boomerangs, correct? Or am I missing something?

Edit: I guess it seems to be the simplest way to get the DRLs to stay on with the headlights though.

I enclose my wiring for better understanding.

In my schema: cut the green wire
brown=====> to white DRL wire
yellow=====> soldered together brown *======>CATHODE side of diode
blue======> soldered to ANODE.

CATHODE TO GREEN WIRE OUT OF HARNESS
ANODE TO GREEN WIRE OF HARNESS.

Basically once you get the green also cutted, insert the diode in this way.

Another suggestion for front foglight.
Maybe possibile (with another diode) to have fog light ON when you have high headlights ON.......very JDM for aggressive highway trip.....all people grant you a bit of road here, but not so polite....
