Hey Guys,

TMMC employee here...I finally joined the party and purchased a 2013 asphalt FRS (Pics coming soon). Car drives amazing, no need to convince anyone of that really...but I have a couple small concerns.

1) When the wipers on intermittent, I hear a *click* every time the wiper comes on...similar to the click you hear on your change signal. Is that normal? I've never had a car that did that.

2) Some guys have complained about grinding issues, but mainly when they shift guys. I hear some grinding (almost like a stick in the spokes of a bicycle sound) when I leave the car in 3rd or 4th to slow the car down. Ie revving up to 4-5k and then letting the gear slow me down I hear some strange grinding noise all the time.

Other than that I love the car so far! :burnrubber:

I heard an electrical type click in my 2011 WRX when the rear wiper was running. Probably normal operation.

Wait till you start hearing the crickets :)

It will make you forget the wiper clicking really quick...

Does anyone know if we have a dual mass or single mass flywheel?

I have #1. I've heard since the second day I took delivery but just turned up the radio a bit to phase it out. There are a few things in this car that tells you they put most of the R&D money in the handling dynamics of the car vs. features or quality of features. If it wasn't for the handling of the car along with the design, I would be raising hell.

I know this sounds kinda dumb. But is it possible the clicking noise is because of wiper chatter. I use rain x on my windows and it causes my wipers to click/ chatter sometimes. Maybe the dealer treated your windows with rai x or similar product

Only intermittent though. Relay?

dehydratedH2O 10-07-2013 05:16 PM

I've always had intermittent wiper click on my rear wiper on my WRX. I searched around for the noise and it was just the relay. Guess it's a cheap one. Probably the same case on your car. Maybe try replacing it? Can't cost that much...

mankarn86 10-07-2013 05:24 PM

@Anaxilus and @dehydratedH2O you guys are prob right...prob just a cheap relay.

I have the clicking sound as well. As was said above, I just turn the radio up to phase it out.

So I figured out it has nothing to do with the transmission. If I keep blipping the gas in neutral I can reproduce the sound. Not sure if its a grinding or a rattle. I know some flywheels can rattle a bit. Anybody else heard a noise like this?

Its not exactly how you describe, but its well known/discussed here that there's some chatter heard when decelerating and taking it out of the gear. But you're saying you're blipping and can hear it, maybe something else.

Just let er rip till 7400 :).

#1 - cheap relay, all cheap (economy) cars have em

#2 - normal tranny/clutch noise. Flywheels don't rattle; clutches and throw out bearings rattle.

Recommendation: Drive it

But if im blipping the gas in neutral and i hear the rattle/grind/chatter...the clutch and throw out bearing don't come into play.
