The Abarths are nice. It's my wife's favorite but she can't bring herself to buy a fiat

Building up a nice gen 2 mr2 for under $10k.

I will admit, I wish I went that route.

370Z was my only other option. I don't care for any of the muscle cars, and I couldn't bring myself to pay $30K for a Hyundai, no matter how nice it was, so I didn't even test drive the Genesis. BRZ vs FR-S was a no-brainer, as the Scion dealership is the closest dealership to my house, vs. a 30 minute drive and vicious traffic (by Indy standards) to get to the Subaru dealer.

My first choice was the FR-S/BRZ and 2nd was a WRX wagon.

whatsinaname 08-16-2013 08:45 PM

Impreza WRX, Camaro, Focus ST and Mazdaspeed 3.

Doh, I posted in the wrong thread. I actually bought the BRZ. So I guess the FR-S along with what is listed above.

S2000 or 350z
But it's hard to get a loan on used car and frs came out

Before I bought my FR-S, I burned sage to clear the negative energy away from the vehicle. This shamanic experience was very enlightening. Some decide to take it to the next level and burn the car. A bit too extreme if you ask me.

Didn't want to deal with any reliability problems down the road with the used cars. Test drove the BRZ and bought one. No regrets.

LOL, me too!

Also, hate to say it, but I test drove a Turbo Beetle first, but I was also considering a Mini Countryman S, Turbo Veloster, Nissan Juke and Focus ST (till I found out it was MT only) before I test drove the FRS and fell in love with it.

I'm so glad I bought the FRS. Son't think I'd be anywhere near as happy driving anything else--though, I'd prolly have more money now, lol.

My bad... Burning ... not Buying! Oh we'll, the whole reading thing is highly over rated! But, to answer the OP... 'Nothing.' I don't buy cars that I would burn...

Strongly considered right before the FR-S became readily available...

Used: S2000 / Boxster or Cayman / Vette C5 or C6

New: Genesis Coupe / Mustang (6 cyl)

All in all, pretty satisfied with decision.... new vs. used has it advantages in that I don't have to be concerned about how a used rig was treated (or ms-treated) -- the higher insurance for the used options -- and the higher maintenance for the Boxster/Cayman or Vette (ever price out a set of tires for a Vette? Or an oil change for a Porsche? Ouch!)

Wish I had some of the extra "Umph" that could be wrung out of the Genesis or Stang... but when it comes to handling...and styling... boy o boy do I love my FR-S!

For a great comparison... check out the latest issue of Road and Track. Good article on new FR-S vs. used Boxster S. Yes, the Boxster wins that writer's vote... and yes, it would get me from Point A to Point B much faster... but the degree of separation when it comes to handling just isn't large enough (for me IMHO) to make me long for a used Boxster or Cayman... especially when I consider I'm going to like having two years of scheduled service included in my purchase price and my insurance isn't much higher than what I was paying for my previous rig.

Bottom line... my "smile-per-dollar-spent" evaluation is just as high as where is was 7 months after I was first able to really throw my FRS into a hard turn... and/or hike up the Revs to get the engine to do something fun....

For what its worth.. I just don't understand the depth of negative reviews posted on this Forum. If one didn't do a decent test drive or have enough experience to know what one was testing (compared to other rigs), then bad on them for making an unwise buying decision.

Thanks Toyota and Subaru!

While waiting 2 months for my car to show up I looked at 2011-2012 SS camaros
