That sounds reasonable to me. I'm sure it'll be a PITA to change them, but well worth it.

Significant cam change would require stiffer springs, correct?
What effect would stiffer springs have on the variable valve timing mechanism?

Depends on what kind of cam you're running. High lift and high rpm would definitely require springs and retainers. Just higher duration may be ok with stock stuff. But on a boxer you can't just pop a valve cover and swap cams so the way I see it, you might as well do everything you're going to do to the block at once. Which is hard to do when nobody is making parts or experimenting with different setups.

I know people who can do valve adjustments without pulling the block, but yeah most times you're going to pull the block to do any head work.

i hope they're out by the time my engine comes out for the build (winter time probably). i'm definitely only doing cams if the engine is already out lol.
