My thoughts. With stick shift quite possibly dying out in the next decade for sports cars.

If you have a slight curiosity for manual, no reason not too!

They call it the Grand Touring (GT)86 in Europe for a reason. Long trips are quiet and comfortable.

Edit: I drive a stick

To be honest, it's no big deal any way you go.

You can change the rear end ratio to a 3.9:1 if you want lower RPM for cruising.
You could even go to a 3.727:1 but I feel that you loose too much acceleration with that.

With a 3.9:1 the difference is very subtle. But the car is so much better as a daily driver with the 3.9. Much smoother to drive.
(I have been using a 3.9 for daily on our FR-S so this is an opinion from experience)

Not a very expensive change either.

So just get what you want, either a M/T or A/T then change the diff gears if you don't like it later.

Interestingly enough, in Japan the "G" and "RC" models come with a 3.727:1 stock.

Here's a chart showing the info for the MT. Never driven the AT but the MT cruises along very nicely in 6th. Either way, MT or AT, you'll enjoy those 120 miles.

Well, tomorrow might be the day. Not sure if it will be a BRZ or FRS or auto or std. My question is: does the auto and stick drive at the same RPM at the same speeds? I drive 120 miles per day - all highway. Does the engine tend to get "buzzy" at higher RPMs?

Well, Was Saturday the day??

Relative to other stock sports cars, this car is relatively quiet on the highway (engine noise-wise). Depending on the tires they outfit your car with, you may get more road noise from the tires more than anything.

Particularly if you block the sound tube.

Plugged mine, and I think I like it that way. Gonna leave it for a while.
