I'm only at 500 miles and getting an indicated 29.1 which I calculated 28.5 mpg
I have not exceeded 5k rpms yet.. Maybe a little.. But I'm not babying it any either.. Better mpg than I was expecting relative to my driving.. I haven't done redline yet and it's killing me..

You have to aware of what you are looking at on avg. readout. It is resetable(press&hold), so if you have never reset it, will give you an average since whenever. Some folks reset the avg at the beginning of each tank.

The avg. value is often optimistic vs. the hand calculation.
This car appears to experience a very wide range of fuel consumption performance. I have experienced as high as 25 mpusg (short trip/city/winter) and as low as 46 mpusg (long trip/hwy/summer).

Averaging about 26 in mixed driving. Pure highway driving yields 35-40, but if you add a mile or two off the highway, it drops to 33-34. All my previous cars got the best mpg on rural roads going 45mph, but not the FR-Z. The FR-Z loves pure highway driving. The mpg gauge is consistently about 1mpg too generous.

I'm averaging 26.8 but I've been dogging it A LOT. It gets 35 MPG on the freeway easily if I baby it at 60 mph.

15k miles, i calculate my mileage by hand everytime and compare to the computer. I find it is off by 2 miles, I typically get 30.xxx as avg but by hand always seems to be 27-28. No mileage complaints here.

BRZ Limited 6MT
  • 27.7 MPG average over 7900 miles (5400 on summer tires, 2500 on snow tires)
  • Mostly short trips (2-10 miles)
  • Hilly rural and small town roads, some stop lights, moderate traffic (only ~16% highway)
  • multi-info-display's average reads ~5% higher than actual

Weekdays 80% highway 20% city
Weekends 80% city 20% highway
2 months, 3000miles - Avg mpg = 27.1

I fill up every time I'm at that last tick on the gas gauge.
Usually have to fill up every 4-5 days.

You can always just check by hand and compare to the dash. Anyway, my digital is always correct. I have checked all my fill ups to date and always correct. My last few long highway runs were 30mpg 70-80mph. So, if your driving slower than that stands to reason your mpg would be higher. When driving in city with tach 3-7, I get 22-25.

Why can't we all be on the metric system?

slicktop 05-12-2013 09:22 PM

All city pretty much for me. I have a lead foot.... 20.1mpg last I saw. I've had the car almost 2 months, about 600 miles so far. Filled up twice about to fill up again in the next few days.

What's it to you?

I see this train of thought all the time here, I really don't understand it.

If you're not flooring the car the whole time and getting 22mpg you don't deserve the FR-S!!!

That feels like a relevent, but at the same time silly question. It probably violates someone's right to be different.

DBacon1052 05-13-2013 03:24 AM

I'd rather mine say 35 than the 22.5 mine currently says

Sonolin 05-13-2013 03:25 AM

I'm jealous of you guys. I've gotten 21 mpg when I calculated it by hand. Gauge reads 22.5 on average.

Its really hard for me to resist the throttle though :burnrubber:

And I really dont think there is any way to drive this car like a prius lol. I think the guys posting better mpgs are just more mature drivers wish I was sometimes lol!
