Every other day I use Meguiars quick detail on the front bumper and headlights to remove the bugs. It takes them off without leaving swirl marks. Just make sure you spray a generous amount on and always use a CLEAN microfiber towel for each section.

As i was reading the Original Post, i got an eerie sense of Deja Vu... Then i saw that you're from Rancho. haha I'm in Fontana(even more windy) and i work at a steel yard with dust everywhere. Not much you can about it. Personally, i just use a Cali Duster. I wash my care every weekend and wax as well. I figure that is what the wax is for, to protect the paint from what little damage the fine dust could do to the paint had the wax not been there instead. :bonk:

I use the California Car Duster (been using them for 20+ years) and have never had a scratch or swirl from them. I have several, one for road dust and wheels (down low) and a separate one for the top surfaces (hood, trunk, roof, etc.). Also have a dedicated one for winter salt dust. Three things about them: 1. Be sure you have a good coat of wax or sealer on the car. 2. Don't put any pressure on them, just let the loose strands touch the car. 3. Don't use when the surface is hot. I shake them often and replace at least one of them annually.
After dusting I use Griot's Speed Shine and a Griot's Microfiber towel to finish the job. Works great between waxings. |

the only time i touch the car between biweekly washes is to remove bird bombs and tree sap. otherwise, it's not worth it to get too OCD about it.

if you wax it well, then you dont have to worry about that rain and dust too much. I try to wash it once a month (its a garaged weekend car) and do a good waxing whenever i take it to meets or shows. Actually have an opticoat detailer come tomorrow so i hope the car stays happy after that lol
if you need a quick wash idea, just go to walmart and buy a car wash attachement. Pour in a little soap and rinse the car. |
