Back in the fall I was out driving some of the back roads hoping to hit the 1000 mile mark that day and ran over a small stick in the road that somehow flipped back into the car and left a dirty scratch mark just above the driver side door handle… what’s the odds on that? I heard a ‘pop’ sound and saw it coming in the side view mirror. Now I get to look at that every time I drive the car. I’m going to take the car in to the guy that did my Opti-Guard when the weathers a bit nicer to see if he can buff it out and re-coat that area with the Opti-Guard. :mad0259:

When I first got the car I freaked out at my GF while she was looking for the dome light. I thought she was going to scratch the headlining.

I've settled down for the most part, but I find myself washing the car much more frequently than any other car. The silliest thing is that I sprung for the 7 year paint/upholstery warranty, so if it becomes chipped/scratched/faded I can get it all replaced. I think it paid off, because my last car ('99 Tiburon) was quoted at about $3000 for a complete paint job with dent removal. I paid I think it was $800 for the warranty, so I think it's a fair investment considering my car is stuck outside in the Florida sun for now.

I noticed my first nick on the side skirts today, and I think I actually felt more relieved than anything.

I agree! After my first chip, all I could think was "thank God that's finally out of the way! Time to get some more!":burnrubber:

Hey bro, be glad your not like me yet with a 4mth old car in the shop getting $8600 worth of damage repaired on the front end because some jackass wanted to make a U-TURN into oncoming traffic and then subsequently slam on his brakes for no reason what-so-ever... btw, your dealer is an idiot!

RRnold 02-27-2013 08:01 PM

1)File for divorce
2)Make the dealership fix it and then find a new dealership
3)Make the tint shop replace the moldings

:bellyroll:

I don't know what it is but the FR-S/BRZ curse is out for blood and definitely isn't taking any prisoners. :bs:

I'm on several car forums and this car seems to bring a lot more neg vibes than the rest.

Since you're in SD... please post up which dealership was pounding cars. :mad0259:

The day I picked up my FR-S, my wife dragged her heels over the bottom door sill scratching the plastic! Suck! That following wednesday the dealer hit the car to check the alarm putting a fist size dent in the upper window panel. I have a coupl scratches from rocks i assume here and there on the car and today when the windows were being tinted they put a couple razor blade marks on the lower window molding. Only one I got fixed was the dent.

Anyway, I'm not mad, or upset, but i have NEVER been like this with cars! Then again, I've always bought used. Oh well, there will be many many more! Car is a blast and I'm not about to park it to avoid scratches amd flaws!

Any other stories like this or am i the only crazy one?

Where did you purchase your whiteout FRS?

Gearhd79 02-27-2013 08:06 PM

I had my FRS for about a month, took it autocrossing and nailed a cone at about 50MPH...and put a nice scratch and chip in the bumper cover..Oh well..i was pissed for about 30 seconds..shit will happen

I feel your pain. I usually tell them not to wash my car when it's at the dealer. I know the mechanics are usually careful, it's the lot boys that dgaf. This last time I took it in I forgot to remind them not to wash it. Got it back with a dent in the pas. door that has a chip of paint missing down to the metal. Now it's all I see. They are fixing it monday but I was totally butt hurt over it. I park 2 feet from my curb in fear of eating it with my rims and I am so careful considering 7000 miles now but some douchetard moves it 20 feet on a lot and fucks my shit up? so sad. They used a dirty micro fiber rag the first time they washed it there and I almost cried. after this they are not allowed to breathe on my car there.

You drive a car, shit is gonna happen to it. It sucks, but you just have to accept that you'll never be totally able to avoid it despite your best efforts.

Now you can understand why some people have garage queens, when the anal retentiveness of keeping it perfect outweighs the fun of driving it. Not that there's anything wrong with that, but I'll always prefer something I can really drive.

powerj2 02-27-2013 10:32 PM

it does suck, I just got my first rock chip! I was so pissed but then i look past it because i love to drive the car

SportInjected 02-27-2013 11:34 PM

I know exactly what you mean, the first scratch/ding/dent hurts the most, but my fr-s is a DD so I accepted the fact that I'll just drive myself insane trying to keep it perfect.

I still have the clear plastic strip covering my radio/CD player in my current car that turns 10 next month. Until a couple years ago I still had the door sill strips too(the one that got scratched by someones wife several replies above).

LOL! This post had me rolling! I bought it from Mossy Toyota, but it was Mossy Ford's guy that did the dig. Mossy Toyota was beyond amazing with the situation. I pointed it out and they had it fixed the next day! Best part was they turned away two dent guys because they said it wouldn't be perfect. Third, pulled it off nicely and you can't even see it. Irony was that it was the same dent guy I have always used! I was stoked when I saw him because I know it would be done right.

The only reason I didn't take it back to the tint place to have them replace that moulding is because they gave me $40 off for being a return customer and squeezed me in this morning. I called them the second they opened and they got me in 45 minutes later! If the moulding ends up bugging me a lot, I'll just pay the $40 to get a new one. Great tint place. They always get everything perfect!

Mossy Toyota. I believe they have another white out and a silver one on the lot right now. Great place to deal with. I am beyond happy with my experience.

You three are VERY correct! Fun part is that I just hit 900 miles today.....I have tons of errands to run tomorrow, so I should be done with break in tomorrow night at some point. Nice to know I have some flaws so I don't have to worry about beating on her! :party0030::happy0180::burnrubber::thumbup:

Curbed my bumper a bit the other day by slightly misjudging a u-turn. I was pissed for a while, but I have calmed down now. Time to do some rally cross now...I guess.
