EJ20

ichitaka05 12-18-2009 12:28 AM

hm... I'm guessin' on White Comet might be right.
Lotus Elise/Exige didn't change the Engine's name even Toyota engine, so I don't see why Toyota need to change the Subaru special engine.

...at the same time Madator got some good point too.

That's no reason for them to forgo the name of the block. They'll just add some alphanumerical designate after the "EJ" to indicate it has DI.

When did he say that? I'm pretty sure we were told it was an 2l EJ with Toyota heads.
Edit: On numerous occasions it was stated it is an EJ20..

Toyota heads.. that might just as well mean Yamaha will take care of the heads..

The "E" is the indication of Subaru engines. The next letter just symbolizes a different generation of engines. So far there are the following engine classes for 4 cylinder horizontally opposed gasoline engines: EA, EJ, EL, and EN. If they are going to reuse their naming scheme, I'm going to guess the new engine maybe called EL20 as it is the newest engine class to the Subaru family.
