Yep, one of my previous cars got rear ended once - you could barely see the damage from the outside but the valance was damaged all the way up to the spare wheel and the damage came to just under R40k.

If the other car hit you THAT hard you're pretty much guaranteed to have hidden body damage.

And now I bet u'r looking forward to the Tazz that they r going to give u as a coutesy car. LOL

What courteousy car... Like I would pay the extra! :-P

I'll send my Mini in for some TLC on the weekend and use that for a while. I'll definitely pull out the spare and have a look see - and make sure I show the assessors when they finally inspect it...

It looks like you were hit with a forklift

Vic_RSA 11-12-2012 12:40 PM

Lol! It looks like it - those are because the caps for the tow hitches are AWOL - found one of them mutilated on the road - the other is MIA...

Checked the boot - spare wheel well looks fine - wheel and boot panels came out easily - everything looks straight. Now to see what it looks like below the bumper...

Thanks to Supermassive for this pic of his Scion - Looks like a bit of a crumple zone...

Vic_RSA 11-29-2012 08:14 AM

Looks like I'm waiting till next year to get my baby fixed... :(

sav 11-29-2012 11:24 AM

Ouch. :(

Have you gotten quotes yet?

Vic_RSA 11-29-2012 12:12 PM

Only one so far - but going with who my insurance recommend. I'll start pushing for them to at least order the parts and keep them till the time is right.

sav 11-29-2012 04:50 PM

Just make sure that the insurance's recommendation is Toyota approved. They've got a list of approved panel-beaters on their website under ToyotaCare.

If they're not approved you could end up with warranty issues.

Vic_RSA 11-30-2012 02:03 AM

Thankfully they are on the list. Not messing with my extended warranty... I got the full 6y/220000km...

sav 11-30-2012 07:34 AM

Cool. Eish, sounds like you're planning on keeping the car for a LONG time?

Vic_RSA 11-30-2012 08:12 AM

Of course... ;)

Unless a performance model comes out in the next two years, then may consider trading in...

sav 11-30-2012 11:16 AM

Cool, I doubt I'd keep mine longer than 3 years but then I'd probably trade it in on another 86. :)
