Right now I am leaning towards the Subaru side, simply because of the taillights. We are gonna have to see the production model first though, although I don't think the FR-S will be that different since they printed up so many brochures for it already. Pricing is another thing the price difference for the WRX between the US and Canada is $8,000 while its only $1,500 between the TC. I would rather spend that extra $6,500 on something else if the tail light is the only thing different.

From everything that I know and have seen of the two cars, the Subaru BR-Z fits me best and will probably be the one I go with.

Interesting that the majority are going towards Subaru (myself counted). I really hope Subaru will give a time line for the STI version during Detroit autoshow. If not too far, I'll wait for the STI.

I also heard the 2103 2.0T GC may have 300hp.

I saw it mentioned somewhere that either car will take different development paths once the car is brought to market. i,.e. anything above the standard models will either be by Subbie or By Toyota. If we are extra lucky, we could be privy to one of the greatest series of "one man upships" in the history of the sports car.

Yeah, the 2103 GC, because no way in hell they are gonna put in 300hp for 2013.

Did you mean 2012 at the end of your sentence? Otherwise your sentence doesn't make sense. :)

It'll depend on the dealer and the lenght of the warranty...plus I've seen they have different bumpers and interior will probably be different...
I'll choose the less "rice" one, so it'll probably be the toyota.

Apart from bolting on some rice after it has left the production line, it's hard to see how Toyota could "one up" Subaru with a car that Subaru builds.

Apparently you have no idea how TRD ..... or pretty much any other in house tuner (be it Spoon/Mugen, TOM's, STI, Nismo) operates

...... I'm not even going to bother.

The only things to compare between the two would be exterior, pricing, options, branding (which is transparent to me), and warranty policies. Official info on these items from both sides have not been announced so it's hard to answer your [interesting] questions without speculating. I'd like to read what everyone says once we know all the details.

Me personally, I'm waiting for official announcements on something like a Scion Release Series or STI. That's when I'll really compare/stress over making a decision. But to keep on topic...

I expect there to be clear differences between BRZ vs. FRS which should become very apparent once both cars are fully revealed. Can anyone speculate what the package differences may be? Didn't Subaru announce it will be going in a slightly different marketing direction?

suprachica79 11-13-2011 01:40 PM

I will be getting the Scion. My reasons are stupid and petty, but I have just never liked the Subaru name or most of the cars they produce and the only reason I am ok buying this car is because of how much Toyota has had a hand in it.

Gardus@Supersprint 11-14-2011 04:13 AM

It may even happen that on some market just one car will be sold, for example in Italy Toyota has lost almost every credential about sports car, so I think the Subaru dealers would be more likely to sell it.
A the same time Toyota dealers are many more...
