Give me A/C and a USB/AUX stereo jack and I'll be happy.

Well everyone has different tastes. Incandescent brakes lights on a new car just looks bad to me. Same thing with reflector headlights. Maybe I should've just said good looks. LED brake lights and projector head lights are part of that for me. Probably the main thing keeping me from buying a Miata today is that it looks like it is straight out of 1995. I want something with a modern look that I'm not embarrassed to be seen in.

I'm asking for good looking SMALL diameter stock rims.
16x7 sounds good to me.
Been looking at rims all night last night.
Thinking about putting a set of RPF01 or PF01 Enkei's on.

Its the only rims that "make sense" in terms of modifications for the money.

I just found out rims like Volks and Advan are like hella expensive even in 15inch diameter. (like $600/rim)

I just want something fun to drive, good on gas, some what quick, nice seats, A/C and a nice stereo with AUX and under 25k. Don't care about much about anything else.

SUB-FT86 09-30-2011 07:19 AM

What I want will not be available on this car so I wont bitch about it. I want the proximity key with push button start(I seriously don't see the hate for it),sunroof,MP3 dock and bluetooth, heated mirrors, and a info screen that can act as a small navigation system.

I'm not much of a technophile when it comes to car features, but I've grown to love the proximity key and push button start. Oddly enough I feel just as enough of a connection to the car, if not more. It'd be fine as an option though.

My must-haves list is short:
A/C
Telescoping steering wheel (only makes sense if it's a driver-focused car)
stereo w/ CD and iPod USB/Aux input
Automatic lock
Automatic window

I mean adding premium stuff like HID, power seats, etc, you can't expect to get all that for $22k and under.

I'm sorry I don't understand how you guys are saying having a proximity key makes you not as connected to your car. Sorry that's just rediculous. It littereally has no bearing what so ever on the way the car drives. A good reason not to have it is to keep costs down but connectedness...really? :bs:. I would LIKE the prox key but honestly couldnt really care less.

Things I want...
  1. Very supportive seats. I want completely manual light seats but in leather...but I can always just get that done myself later. Good gas mileage.
  2. Telescopic Steering wheel
  3. A BARE MINIMUM double din head unit. I'm going to add my own own so what comes in the car just needs to be a double din for as cheap as possible...hell if they will let me get the money back they can keep the stereo and sell it to someone else.
  4. Hid's if it's not going to make a difference to the price of the car. Hid kits are cheap now a days. The $40 kit I got for my celica has been in my car for about a year with no problems so the car can come with what ever.
  5. The turn signals can NOT be the way they are on the test mule...That would just bug me to much.
  6. Comfortable leather shift knob and steering wheel.
  7. When the rear seats fold down there has to be a large opening between the rear seats and the trunk. I've seen some cars that make it pretty much pointless to ever fold the rear seats down.
  8. Cup holders that can hold decent size cups. This is important!!! The '08 civic has great cup holders.
  9. very very very minor rattles if any
  10. It would be nice if the gauge cluster would display mpg. I hate only getting to check my mpg at fill ups. If the car displayed mpg I could always drive at the most efficient speeds.

Maybe Ebay kits are cheap, sure... But OEM quality, FOR TOYOTA? no way are they gonna use parts that cheap... My guess would be Phillips HID's (if HID's are an option/stock) as that's what Lexus and Toyota (not to mention a lot of other car makers that include HID's) use IIRC.

Mechanical LSD and Aux-in for me. And the Aux-in is optional. :)

Spaceywilly 09-30-2011 09:44 PM

I feel like a lot of lower end cars are starting to get projectors now (hyundais, tC) so it makes me think they are getting cheaper. The $40 eBay kit is just HID bulbs for a reflector housing, not the projector housings. It's not the same thing at all. A projector housing + ballasts will cost you at least $150 (that's just the cheapest I've seen for a used set, typically I think you're looking at around $300), and then you need to retrofit that into your existing reflector housing. Complete projector headlight kits seem to go for around $600 minimum for a used set.

The big thing for me is the shape of the headlights. Projectors require a much smaller housing so they can keep the slender profile of the headlights from the concept. If they decide to offer it with reflector headlights, they will need to buldge out the headlights and it will look awful (look at the 2012 impreza compared to the impreza design concept). I would prefer they raise the base price and make projectors standard vs. bulging out the headlight design to fit reflectors.

 YES! My friend has it on his VW R32, and i LOVE seeing that! it's like a game to see how much MPG you could get :bellyroll: and also, i think it should be standard on every car! such a great little detail.

Just be careful when you are watching that meter, when you accelerate it's not relevant! You can use it to check the most efficient cruising speed, idle consumption, average fuel consumption, and the effect of accessories.

I thought that thing comes in standard in BMW/M-B/Audi long time ago. Some nice feature to show-off, but you need a co-driver to tell you that you are driving not efficiently, otherwise you may loose focus on the road....

I just want the car :) Not bothered in the slightest about what kit it comes with as the whole interior is coming out for two FIA approved buckets seats and a roll cage anyway :)
