Thinking of picking up an IS350

Thinking of picking up a used IS350 as a daily driver. What are the pros/cons?

OrbitalEllipses 02-06-2014 01:32 PM

Con: You have 3 cars already.

New Daily* Driver: Lexus IS350 OR ISF

Hey fellow FT86 friends,

I don't normally ask opinions on forms but figured it would be fun. My question is, I am thinking of trading in my daily driver (2010 Toyota Camry SE, loaded) for something more fun. Basically, what I am thinking of buying is a used Lexus IS350 AWD or a used Lexus IS F. Both cars a Certified Pre-Owned (CPO). Both cars are 2011 and the IS F is 10K more.

I've read many Lexus forms but I want to hear what my FT86 buddies thought.

Specs on IS350: 2011, fully loaded, F Sport tire upgrade (18" rims), F Sport exhaust upgrade, 57K miles, CPO with a three year/100,000 mile warranty. 306hp, 277lbs tq, All Wheel Drive.

Specs on IS F: 2011, fully loaded, CPO with a three year/100,000 mile warranty. 416hp, 377lbs tq, rear wheel drive, etc etc.

Thanks guys!

Don't think you can go too far wrong either way!
I know I would be more than happy with each of those choices.

I've never owned an AWD before, so if it were me, I'd go with that to be more different from your FRS.

shiro 11-06-2014 02:52 PM

Agreed, I think the AWD would be fun. Plus I just found out today that Vivid Racing found a way to tune the IS250/350. The EUC maps have been locked for years and I only know of one tuner in japan that has access to the maps from Lexus Japan. I'm leaning more towards the IS350 for the daily and my FRS for the power/joy ride. I don't need two 400+ whp car's right? lol

Thanks guys!

Dalily?

Da Lily

The Lily

The Lily is a flower

Flower rhymes with power

Power can become absolute power

Absolute power corrupts absolutely

Corruption is a global issue

Issue has 5 letters

Chair also has 5 letters

Chairs are comfy

Comfortable chairs can lead to laziness

Being lazy is being slothful

Sloth is one of the seven sins

Seven is only three away from ten

Ten is the number of letters in Illuminati

Just one person's experience so take it with a grain of salt..my neighbor has an ISF, same year I believe. In these past 6 months alone I've seen him forced to drive the dealer rental a number of times cause of issues with the ISF. Last time I talked to him he said they can keep it for all he cared, guess hes a bit fed up with it lol.

But yeah the IS350 should get better MPG, similar luxury, and maybe hold its value better than the ISF, those things depreciate like crazy. As you said you already have the turbo'd as the fun car xD

IS F rides like garbage, last I tried it. IS350 has a horrible backseat entry and no rear headroom, but it's a nice little car otherwise. If I needed rear seats often or for adults, I would not buy it.

Lmao Ammonia! My bad. Tried to type this up quick on my break at work. You made it quite entertaining to read...then I fixed it lol.

Interesting. That's the last thing I need is problems with a daily driver. Thanks for the info! :)

Good feedback. Luckily I don't have people in my back seat so bonus room for me in the front!

MokSpeed 11-06-2014 05:35 PM

Those are some fancy daily driver choices. My FR-S is my daily!

If you're contemplating an IS-F just get a RC-F. They just came out and it's equipped with an updated IS350 motor.
